Mailing Passport for stamping to New York from UK. Is it possible?

Hi All,

My File was transferred from Buffalo to New York. New York has finally e-mailed me requesting my passport (Woohoo!!!).

Problem is that I am in UK.
The e-mail says that I can not deliver the passport in person and that they only mail to USA and Canada. What to do?

the way I see it i can:

A) Trust someone in CA/USA with passport (don't like this option)
B) Move to Canada on tourist visa, send passport and wait - for like 30 business days for my passport + right to work. then go to Niagara.
C) Move to USA on tourist visa, send passport and wait - for like 30 business days for my passport + right to work. then go to Niagara.


Has anyone else been in this situation? Any help advise?


Please help – New York has to have my passport withi in sity days of the passport request.

hi you do,nt need to go either Canada OR USA.YOU JUST SEND YOUR PPS from your current residence through courier company.even if you go to canada or USA you have to deliver them through courier.best of luck

Sorry I was not clear. New York letter requesting passport says the will only mail to USA/CANADA. So if i mail from UK they won't mail it back according to their letter.


Has anyone been in this situtation? how did you resolve?

I understand that you have to send self addressed envelope with appropriate postage and they will return the passport in that envelope. If this is the case then it doesn't matter. Please check on this options as well.

The question is will New York mail/courier my passport back to the UK?

I have pasted an extract from their e-mail below. But basically it says they only send passports to USA/CANADA/BERMUDA. Has anyone got their passport mailed back from New York CIC while living outside USA/CANADA/BERMUDA?



Here is the extract email from New York CIC said:


PERMANENT RESIDENT VISA AUTHORIZATION -
I agree that the permanent resident visa will be affixed to my passport and dependents'
passports, if applicable.
My Permanent Resident visa should be mailed to ______________________________
(yourself or authorized individual) at the following address:
(We will mail your permanent resident visa/passport to the address provided in the USA,
Canada, or Bermuda only.)

hi there..u can send ur PP to New York via courier from UK...but as mentioned in the letter....the New York visa office will mail back your PP only in US/Canada...which means...u have to provide a local address of US/Canada whn u send ur PP to visa office...in that case...u have to find a local address....may be any of ur fren or relative who is currenlty residing in US/Canada....u have give that address and later ask ur fren or relative....whomever address u give to post ur PP to UK by some nice courier agency...hope this solves ur problem...

So can i travel to canada as a tourist and mail the passport from there?

UK is visa exempt. Has anyone done this?

Well u can do that....but the thing is...after u enter canada and send ur PP to New York...you will have to wait in Canda unless u get your PP back....and this time frame is not fixed..!
