I was wondering how many of you have a good support system at home (if you don't live with your husband yet).
I am in immigrant to the US myself and I don't have any family here. Only friends. I was married before and it was tough to lose all my "new" family in the blink of an eye. I hope CIC doesn't play that against me. I don't really have strong ties to the US, well, I have a good job and it took me a while to get where I'm at but no family.

Its different for me because I'm the sponsor. My entire life is here, and I'm Canadian, but a situation like this sponsorship thing made me realize my real friends. I lost a good few of them who automatically wrote off my now husband when we first started our relationship because they assumed that since we met online (and hes from India) he's out for a marriage of convenience. It's actually one of the sore points in our relationship... I practically had to beg him to let me sponsor him and he is still determined to find some other way for us to live together because he wants to prove everyone wrong. I don't have a lot of people I can lean on because they haven't been in this situation. He doesn't either, but he is always saying he's not stressed because whatever CIC decides, we're living together by our first anniversary in whichever country that will have us, no matter what.

Dearest Tuyen,

We request your prescence at 'girl time' and invite you to join the sorority of sisterhood known as being girlfriends.

Sincerely,

That's very sweet. Who knows, you might move to India and love it. I have a friend of a friend that can't wait to go back to India even though she was born in Canada!

I love India. I just don't like my in-laws! :-X We have a lot of options as I'm a dual citizen with another country, so I may still avoid my mother in law yet.

Awww! It'll happen. I'm an amateur nanowrimo participant which translates to me losing every year.

I love Indian food :D

I once had a boyfriend from India but sadly, his parents found him a wife and he dumped me. It was really sad for me (about 10 years ago). Indian women are sooooo beautiful, I usually stare at them with envy ???

I'm going to self publish on Amazon's Kindle store. Once I get Word installed on my new laptop and edit the book...... again. Writing is definitely a 'living' artform cause the story chances every time I write it..... sigh......................... *pulls out hair*

I actually don't care about the money or fame. I just want other people to have a chance to read my book and get something out of it.

This seems like as good a thread as any to share a new app I found!

It's called Pair, and allows you to send little videos, drawings, voice recordings etc to one other phone that you pair with. It's a total cheesy couple app but I imagine its perfect when you're doing long distance! I wish if had it then.

You can even send a "thumb kiss" where you both have to touch the screen in the same place :) like I said super cheesy but still a cute way to keep the connection and togetherness :)

You guys who are missing your partners should check it out if you both have smart phones :)

Here's a link about it!
