So on a more serious note and responding to the OP...

I just went through this with a friend who used my success story as an excuse to go 1000 miles an hour into a brick wall.

I stated over and over again how I was suspicious of this "person". I gave her many indicators of his deceitfulness and yet she chose to ignore all this. She sent him all her money in hopes to be moving to NY to live "happily ever after" with him. She is now homeless. She will not go to police (not that I think there is anything they could do anyway) and she has threatened suicide.

It is so incredibly frustrating to be the outsider watching someone you care about get so incredibly used and at the same time allow it!!! Why would someone send their rent money to a person they have never seen on cam??

Can anyone explain this kind of thinking to me? I was obviously in a long distance relationship, marriage and now sponsorship. But I can tell you NEVER, EVER would I have sent money that I needed for my basic necessities to someone online no matter how much I love him.

I just don't get the mentality behind it. This woman also has 2 daughters that she was ready to up and leave for this guy?!?! Really I truly want to understand what is happening in someones mind that they would give up so much and put themselves into peril all in the name of "love".

My opinion...

What's happened here with the limited details was a woman who wanted to so much believe in "LOVE". We all do...we all want to believe the good especially when it comes to Love. We all want to be Loved and give Love....some of us however don't allow the right time, nor evidence to see whether someone is genuine though. I believe the chemicals that get us on that initial high can get the best of us if we don't stay focused, that person we fall in love becomes the end all be all yet could be the biggest slug on the face of this earth.

It's not that she didn't see, she just ignored it and allowed herself to be swept off her feet by the enchanting words. He got to her heart and that's all it takes. It's almost like the point of no return. Some will go so far as alienating themselves from family, their own children, friends. Why because the ever seeking void was there before....it just needed someone manipulative enough to fill it. There's no rationalizing in cases like this. Only that person can snap out of it in their own time I guess. It's so sad....

Is she a Canadian sponsor?

Nothing is meant to be taken seriously on any of the cheezburger sites. (I probably should have added, most of these sites are probably not appropriate for work... browse at your own risk.)

As far as what to do with trolls, depending on the situation/location, I troll right back. It's fun to watch how many trolls can't take what they try to dish. Trolling here is just wrong though. People come here for real info and help, so trolling just isn't cool.

If someone is telling you they are calling from England whose world calling code is 44...please...PLEASE take a very good look at the number AND search the whole phone number online.

There is an world calling code in Nigeria that is 44 +another number (can't remember what the extra number is)....but scammers there are telling people they are calling from England!!

As well, if you have never seen the person on webcam....NEVER trust them and certainly NEVER send money!!!

This person is currently waiting for PR approval and is being sponsored by his Canadian Spouse however this is their second application as they applied last year but the Canadian spouse withdrew mid way. My understanding it that it was cancelled due to their marriage breaking down at the time however they breconciled and was told by CIC to resubmit and get back to the beginning of the line.

They resubmitted in the early spring this year and have been waiting since. Do you think the application will be treated "differently" by CIC since it was initially withdrawn and resubmitted?

usually when I check my ecas it would only say: decision made / application received


I checked my ecas on october 29,2012 and saw double line: decision made / in process
decision made / application received

but when I checked it the following day it changed back to: decision made / application received
and on that same day my file number could no longer works. only the client number works

according to my ecas status my application was received march 23 2012 and I think Kingston received it in July 2012.

does anyone have any idea what happen? please shed some light on this if you do.

I will admit that when I first started using the internet about 14 years ago I chatted with a man who claimed to be from England and working in Nigeria. He then gave me a sob story about his daughter being sick and needing money for the hospital. I was gullible enough at the time to send a small amount (but certainly not money I would have reserved for basic necessities). I then got suspicious when he was asking for more and more. So I did my research and found out about the calling code and many more things about online scamming. I can smell em a mile away now and I learned my lesson and I wish there was more I could do to help others in that situation. But no matter what you say to a love crazed, desparate for love person ... they are going to do what they want....it's such a frustrating catch 22 situation.

I think this falls squarely into the "I don't know" realm. I would assume, just like everything else they do, it would be up to the individual immigration officer reviewing their file to determine if it would be treated differently or not. Some might take a harder look, some may not. Honestly, if *I* was the IO making the decision, I would definitely take a closer look. I hope they provided lots of extra evidence to convince the IO that things really will work this time.

My sister has done that.. but she actually ended up sending $3000 CAD, touched by a "sad" story. I hope these SOBs rot in hell for deception!

As far as I understand it they are supposed to treat each application separately. But honestly how do they do that? I can't imagine they would not have some questions as to why they stopped the process before and are now trying again.

On the other hand marriages can go through these difficult times and it could have been a rash decision that they now regret.

Short story long.... I don't think they are treated "differently" but I am sure when it comes to looking at genuineness there will be more scrutiny.
