I sent in my application Feb 10, 2013. I emailed the LA office and got a response from the Ottawa office saying

"Your application is in process. An immigration officer will be in contact with you if any further correspondence is needed."

Does this mean My applicaion will be done soon? The website says "application received"

How much longer :(

Did you get first stage approval? For second stage, LA is at 16 months for 80% of the cases. Ottawa is at 12 months for 80% of the cases. So you have a little while to go.

is 1st stage approval a letter saying I am eligible to sponsor etc.. if so yes.

I sent my application to Mississauga and they said LA was going to handle it but my responses are coming from Ottawa my wife is waiting in the US for this whole thing to finish.

Parker are the estimates you posted off the website? IN your experience and given the information I have told you what do you think the earliest it will be processed, and what do you think is the latest?

Thanks!! U are awesome.

Yes, they are posted on the website. That said, if you take a peek in the LA spreadsheet (in my signature) some are done shorter. IE my husband. He landed 10 months since we sent the application. So, it can be faster, but they say 80% get done within 16 months for LA.

If you find amikety, she has the Ottawa spreadsheet in her signature :)

thanks parker you are much more helpful than that guy who wrote above.

stage 1 was done many many months ago. I do have a question for you. I was told the application would be processed in LA. but am receiving email correspondence from Ottawa.. Does that mean Ottawa is my office?

Normally yes. If you're concerned, you can e-mail them. I wasn't sure if my file was in Ottawa or LA, so I e-mailed Ottawa. They then told me it was in LA :)

Few things to ask:

Our interview is on August 14. We were asked to bring our relationship proofs. We do have enough but i am trying to gather more. My question is how do we print skype calls with dates and for how long was the call for?

We also ordered notes. They have one concern and that is how come my husband is supporting himself for 9 years on F1 visa? They did not ask us to bring any proofs though. Do u guys think that letter from my father in law that he is supporting him over all these years will help? Do we have to go to the lawyer to get it done? My father in law is in india but he goes to africa for the business. Do you guys think that they might ask for the proofs? They did not ask us to bring any proofs.

I dont think they have done security and background checks on him yet. I think they will do it after the interview. How long will it take after that?

Letter: Go for it. Just a simple letter. My mom wrote us one that I sent with our application. No need for the lawyer.

As for afterwards, I would say 2 months, possibly 4? It depends on how fast the office is going at that time and how many cases they are getting, also on how many cases are going through the checks along with your husbands.

Also what should i take for my residency proof in canada?
Please list the things that they count?

Thanks

Lease, job letter, bills with your address on it, bank statements. Basically anything with your address on it that is official.
