i'm just hoping in general - so as not to get my hopes up :P (and if I wasn't being jovial about this I would be completely the opposite and tie myself to a tree wearing a green parker and holdng up a sign that says "If the world is going to end on Dec 21st I'd like for me to be a Canadian PR at the time outside of the VO)

I just got home and found an email from Los Angeles that they've sent our documents to Ottawa to join our file. Woot!!!! This is good news!

My file is in Los Angeles. How can I join the timeline? Thanks :)

Absolutely! You can either post here your time line or pm it to me :)

The link to the spreadsheet is in my signature :)

Just so you guys know, (as you know: we received an email from LA requesting proof of our intent to reside in Canada after my husband is approved), we managed to compile some proof and mailed it off yesterday morning (6 days after their letter).

We sent it express and well, hope for something good soon (once again!!)

I must admit, I don't understand why CIC thinks anyone would waste their time filing for PR if they didn't intend on moving back to Canada - few people would donate an extra $1k to Canada simply for the pleasure of knowing they were helping out CIC...

They know the primary applicant will move to Canada. They want to have proof the sponsor will move back to Canada too because they're responsible for supporting the PA.

Then why don't they simply require that the sponsor appear with the PA at the time of landing? Given the two year relationship rule, if they aren't living together for two years after landing then the PR would be subject to challenge anyway. I suppose someone could be IN a relationship for two years (to avoid the requirement) and then apply and move to Canada (so at least three years) but it doesn't make much logical sense - why would someone from the US spend three+ years working to get PR in Canada?

It's not difficult to show you are going to move back. Hardly anyone is asked for further evidence. But of course they want to know the sponsor will move back before issuing the visa.

I definitely agreed with this idea at first. As if I want throw away 1000 dollars for the fun of it... not to mention the 4 months of compiling the documents for our application. But what Canadiangirl says makes sense, if I am supposed to sponsor my husband, I guess it makes sense they have an interest to know I will be there to do it. Anyway, we sent the stuff, as we will continue to jump through their hoops for the prize!

Our package with the proof of our intent to reside in Canada was received by CIC LA yesterday morning! yaya

just 8 days after they requested it. I hope that shows our seriousness too!
