I just had the pleasure of speaking with a CIC officer in Seattle (on a different temporary application) and the officer advised me that she'd spoken with the officer in Ottawa who is handling our application and the officer said it was being forwarded to LA. She said I should hear from LA in the next couple of weeks. Of course, like anything oral, it's worth less than the paper on which it's written, but it's at least positive feedback. First time I've ever spoken to anyone from CIC and the officer was quite nice. I'm sure I babbled on a bit (this is an intensely stressful process) but the officer was kind and listened to me.

Has anyone heard anything? I am seeing people from April going it "process". What is taking so long?!!

I'm an early April applicant and I've yet to go "in process". I should probably stop checking 3 times a day though, but I'm currently staying with my husband in the US as a visitor and this housewife stuff is getting kinda boring..

Well, our file is indeed in LA. Hubby got an email this evening asking for a new FBI check! I'm livid. We sent ours in before it expired so I have no idea why they are requesting a new one. We have 120 days to submit it. We have an email confirmation that they received it well before it expired and he's been here for over a year now. Now much would change on it considering he's been here in Canada and the one we had sent in expired in July. Argh..we sent them an email showing the email we got confirming they received it before the expiry date, I thought they were good for 1 year after they received it...guess not? So much for a quick process...another 6-10 week wait for something they shouldn't need. /sigh. I can't wait for this to be over!

They must be received by CIC within 90 days of the date of the FBI clearance letter, but then are good for one year.

They did receive it before the 90 day expiry date. We have email confirmation from them saying so. We sent an email back to them at LA with copies of the emails with dates showing they did confirm receipt of it before it expired. I doubt they will take that into consideration even though we have proof. Hopefully we hear back from them. I don't know if it would make a difference to get our MP to look into why they are requesting a new one?

Perhaps I don't understand your timeline - you indicated the FBI letter expired in July (or did you mean 90 day expire, not 1 year expire?)

Sight. That sounds like a real pain. You might consider starting to comply with their request now and at the same time push to figure out why they're being unreasonable and asking for duplicate information.

This does not speak well of LA's ability to handle PR applications, does it.

If you already provided them with the clearance letters, I'm not sure why they'd be asking. Your FBI letter (at least) will expire fairly soon, so maybe they don't think they can complete processing by October 9, 2012. But it sounds like they just didn't see them in your file.

I'd send them a copy of what you already submitted and also start getting them the information once again - I'd rather give them two FBI clearance letters than have them try to claim I've abandoned the application. Just like that annoying $490 RPRF - I'd pay it a second time and ask for a refund for the overpayment (but hey, I've already paid it twice, so I wouldn't be surprised if I get asked to pay it a third time...)



I'd also order a copy of my GCMS notes.

I'm a little concerned too. I haven't gotten anything from them as of yet (nor has my husband) I'm curious about it. Trying to remember when we did ours, kinda worried O_O

My policy now is to order one 9 months after receipt of the previous one so that I have a new one in hand by the time the old one expires. In fact, I'm planning on getting my fingerprints done in November when I'm in the US for work, so I can submit a new request for one. I'll probably get two fingerprint cards done at the same time (the FBI will use fingerprint cards up to 18 months old).

Ugh. Have you ordered GCMS notes? If they received it, you should see it logged into GCMS.
