Hello guys,

My brother applied for Canada visitor visa from France and is shown processing time of 233 days after biometric is done. I wanted to ckeck from someone with similar experience if it actually takes this much time or can be done sooner like several other countries where it takes couple of weeks. Thanks Very much.

Does he have a US visa? If not, expect 233 days but he gets response sooner then he is lucky. Applying from the UK is even longer and people on this forum have been waiting since last year.

It seems to be the case from Austrian visa office even for a CAN+ case it has been almost 2 months now. Therefore, it is very slow processing . However, it dependson a case to case basis. However, the processing time can vary from 1 month to four months.

As compared to India and Pakistan, very slow processing.

US valid visa does not make any difference. I had a valid US visa and traveled there and came back in 2018. Been two months since I applied and my application is being processed by Austrian visa office. Used Gckey account.

So is your US visa valid? Should have specified valid US visa. IRCC decides if processed through CAN+ so if not valid, then it is not considered.

yes it is valid until 2024. i also specified it in my cover letter. However, eligiblity started on may 24 and completed on the same day. I applied on april 25.

since last update 25 may. it has been put into background processing.

So yours is moving faster than most people’s applicants. Hopefully you will hear a response soon.

so do you think it was processed under CAN+. I have seen normal processing taking less than a month.
mine is almost 2 months now. It is faster considering 180 days are processing time from Germany?

june -july is my semester break i have already moved my travel plan from june 20th seems like they dont care about travel dates.

CAN+ processing is a mystery. It is at the discretion of IRCC so you really don’t know. IRCC doesn’t care about travel dates.

i have a query. who does background check? ircc or local visa office in my case austrian visa office? i have seen cases whose background check done on the same day of biometrics comppleted or other times within a week . i have seen one case from czech republic whose case took 1.5 month in background process and processed by austrian visa office so there is a glimmer of hope i may get it at the end of this month

Again it depends on if during background check something is discovered that needs more investigation.

Posted processing times are often wrong. They are still based on data from Covid when there were limits on who could visit. No uncommon for it to take multiple months though.

Dear colleagues,

I am writing to inquire about the status of my visitor visa application to Canada. I applied on June 6, 2023, from Paris, France, and my friend sponsored me. It has now been one year since I applied, and I have not yet received a response.

I am aware that visa processing times can vary, but I am concerned that my application may have been overlooked or lost. I would appreciate it if anyone could look into the matter and provide me with an update on the status of my application.
Or is there a similar case like me here from france ?

Thank you
