URRGHHH!!!
CIC sent me an email requesting documents IMM 5669, as I made a mistake, and a Marriage Certificate about 6 weeks ago with 30 days to send them. I originally sent a Long Form Marriage Certificate.
Thinking that they were being picky and just wanting a photocopy. I sent them a photocopy with an updated IMM5669.
2 weeks ago I sent them an email asking if the documents they've received are correct. Just yesterday they sent me an email saying they have received the IMM 5669 and a Marriage License and said the Marriage License is not required and that they require a Marriage Certificate as issued in Ontario.
I've ordered an Emergency File Size Marriage Certificate and hopefully they'll get it next week sometime…. But how could they not know that they received a Long Form Marriage Certificate???!!!

So everyone DON'T bother with the Long Form, as a lot of people have mentioned in this forum, this minor hiccup has cost a delay of at least 2 months. Get the FILE SIZE!!!

Not sure why they rejected the long form marriage certificate. It is really the official marriage license with signatures.

Sure the short form marriage certificate is easier to read and simple but I don't see any reason for CIC to reject the long form certificate other than that they are too lazy to look at the certificate closer.

I also sent the long form and didn't have any problems.

It's incomprehensible. Surely they know that there are 2 different Marriage Certificates.
Sucks to be delayed for something like this.

Have you called them and said you sent the long form marriage certificate .A marriage licence is unacceptable as its just a licence not proof .

No I haven't, have just corresponded by email.
Is there a direct number i can call? I was in the understanding that anything by phone was a call centre they can't really help with problems with your application?

That's weird..
how long did it take after you got married for your certificate to get to you? (if you don't mind answering)

Pretty much 12 weeks after we were married
