Long duration TRV - Max stay

Hi,

I'm on work permit in Canada. My mother got multiple entry TRV for 8 years (although we applied for 5 months). I have few questions:

- Is there any maximum duration she can stay in Canada? (medical test was not done for her while applying for Visa.)
- Is there a way to extend her stay after that period?
- If she goes to US for couple of days by road; will it be considered as re-entry & thus she can then stay for that maximum duration after re-entry?
- What will be best option to get a health Insurance for her?

If this is a supervisa, she can be allowed to stay up to 2 years at a time - the actual duration depends on the officer at the port of entry granting her the duration of her stay. See here if there is no stamp or visitor record issued: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=209&t=17

Yes a re-entry is a beginning of another stay - but again, the duration of her authorized stay is dependent on what is granted by the CBSA officer at the port of entry. Again she can be granted 6months (no stamp) or longer.

Shop around and compare and see what coverage is best for her - look for providers in your province. Search and go to insurance comparison sites such as:

We had not specifically applied for SuperVisa, however looking at long duration; I'm not sure if they gave SuperVisa instead. Is it possible & if so, how can we ensure that its SuperVisa or just regular TRV?
As no end date is mentioned by officer, so I'll assume that she can stay for 6 months.

A Parents/Grandparents Supervisa is specifically applied for - if she did not apply for one, likely what she has is a visitor visa only. Check the visa counterfoil under Category - usually Supervisa category is PG-1, and regular visitor visas are V-1.

please note that trv issued nowadays is always multiple entry. They do not issue single entry anymore, thus, max of 6 months. Double check the category if PG1.

Thanks! I checked Visa counterfoil - its V-1 category; hence regular multiple entry TRV.

There is somewhat similar case with me. My wife has TRV with multiple entries and she entered into Canada in May 2018 (No stamping was done). Also, we went out on Vacations to U.S. and re-entered into Canada in September 2018 (Again no stamping was done for both of us)
In such a case, Is she eligible to stay for 6 months starting September 2018??
She has valid VISA till Apr 2019..
