Nice , how you feeling after landing.
Please share your landing and post landing experience.
Hi Aquib, Yes, it is my pleasure to share my landing experience here. Few things may be taken
into consideration before I carry on and describe landing. 1- My application took about 3 years
and so I had the time to look for jobs all last year. I have managed to secure one. 2- I do not
know any body in Canada. 3- I lived the last 7 years in UK.
I landed 9 days ago. In airport, I did not get through the normal arrivals queue. Rather, I informed
one of staff in airport that I am a new immigrant. She advised to go through a separate desk. It
was so quick that I felt I am entering via VIP's

. I showed my landing card and passport to officer and
he smoothly referred me to immigration office in airport (after I got my lagage). I waited in a short queue
then was interviewed by a polite officer. He asked me about cash money I had on me. He also asked if
I have signed the travellers cheques (one signature). If no this will be considered as cash.
Officer asked me why I am landing in a city other than the one in my application. I simply said
I have got a job and showed him contract. He asked about address in Canada (for PR card) and
I gave him the address. He said my PR card is going to reach 6-8 week. Generally he was welcoming.
He referred me to another counter for few info booklets. Lady was also welcoming and nice.
Now, I can see ppl in streets are nice and friendly. You can feel it is a multiculture and you are accepted
(I am comparing to my experience in the UK). One thing I am struggling with now is finding a more permanent
accommodation as I live in a hotel and it is really expensive!
Hope this helps
