CIIP is a 2 days free pre-departure service covering orientation and planning session.
Day 1 is Group Orientation (GO) Session which last for around 9 hours with Tea and Lunch breaks. Slides are shown full day by three different CIIP orientation officers giving Knowledge about Canadian Provinces and territories, Work Culture, Immigrant success stories, Job readiness, Job searching & retention skills, Canadian style Resume writing, Cover letters, Interviews, Licensing / Credential Evaluation etc. Each applicants are asked why they want to immigrate to Canada. Also Applicants are divided into groups and told to perform certain tasks. Appicants are also provided with question papers to test their knowledge about Canada, Communication skills exercise etc. The correct answers are spelled out subsequently by the orientation officer.
Day 2 is My Action Plan (MAP) Session lasting for 1 - 2 hours. This is personal one to one session with CIIP Orientation officer. The orientation officer prepares your Action plan and explain it in detail. Some very useful weblinks are covered in the Action plan pertaining to Skill development, Bridging Programs, Career options, Job search strategies, Resume writing, Cover letters, Health Care, Children Schooling, Living in Canada etc. Here you can ask any of your concerned questions to the officer. Your Action Plan is subsequently emailed to you.You are strongly encouraged to use your Action Plan to guide your research, decisions, and actions in preparation for your new life in Canada.
Your resume and action plan is forwarded to some of CIIP's Immigrant serving and College referral partners as per your choice of destination in Canada. You can expect to receive emails from the referral partners within 5 days of completing MAP Session.
You are also emailed "My Resource Package" PDF Guide containing useful Online resources, Cultural adaptation and Workplace norms, Tips on Resume writing, Cover letters, Networking etc.
Attend the CIIP session far in advance from your landing date to gain maximum benefit from the program.
