LOCAL OFFICE-EDMONTON (opening of additional info)

Hi everyone! Happy New Year!

I submitted additional information to local office in Edmonton because they transferred our file there from Vegreville (PR application spousal-in land)

My husband and I submitted our first additional info last Nov. 1, 2011 (personally)

2nd, was Dec. 23, 2011 (express mail)

My question is, does anybody know how long will it take for them to open these documents?

I know in Vegreville they are opening AUGUST 2011 documents....

how about Edmonton?????

Our file was transferred there without AIP in October 2009, and I am not sure when they opened it, but we received a call in February 2010 from an officer, who approved our file after asking us a few questions over the phone. We sent in additional info. So they took about 4 months to look at our file. We were initally told it would be 12 - 24 months before they even looked at our file. Keep sending in stuff.

Hi Suzanne_m, good to hear from you! somebody mentioned you to me when I posted that our file were transferred to Edmonton.

No AIP ...I ordered FOSS notes and on the remarks it stated there NO AIP, could not issue work permit ... they transferred it OCT.19,11 but Edmonton received the hard copy (maybe) NOV 1, 2011. and this is the same day we went there to submit our 1st additional info....


cic call centre agent told me it's 18-24 months but I really hope they will open it just like yours.... I am going to prepare our 3rd additional documents (pics, insurance, rent agreement etc) this January...

OMG Charmainefrances, so sorry to have read this so late, I didn't see this until tonight, but I finally read it and any news? We heard in Feb, after our file was transferred in October, 2009. So we heard from our IO in Feb 2010. She called me then my husband at work, we had our interview over the phone and the next monday he got PR.

OMG Charmainefrances, so sorry to have read this so late, I didn't see this until tonight, but I finally read it and any news? We heard in Feb, after our file was transferred in October, 2009. No news yet! Now preparing for March submission... Now that they are implementing the new rules, hope that everything will be on fast track... (hoping)! I guess IO is waiting for our 2nd Anniversary... It will be on Sept., But I am praying for good news soon!

First of all i would like to say this post was helpful about my questions and led to get my foss notes which
i never knew existed.

My name is AK i submitted my pr application in march 2011,my wife sponserd me as i was a Temp Resident in canada as i held a owp and my Study permit,my permits expired in mach 2011 as well.

But again after applying i got a doc from cic veg in july that they need more info which i sent them
in august.but then when i checked my status on line it dint show anything till jan,in jan they said they got the info nd showed on the online status.but the call center said they got the info in august but dint open it.but as of now i dint get my work permit or anyting as of april 24 i got a letter they transferred my case to edmonton cic and they may contact you.When i called the call center they said there is no processing time that how long will they take as its by case to case specific.i already waited a year to get my work permit and now they say they have transferred it what does tht mean and how long more will it take to get this done???

And by the way me and my wife meet at school in 09 nd got married in jan 11 nd we sent all the pics our marriage ceremony but it was a small wedding cause my parents are not in canada so they were not there, but everything was sent in but still i dnt understand whats going on.

If some one can help or have any info i will really appreciate it

Hi AK! If you ordered your foss notes already that's good! You will have an idea why they transferred your file in Edmonton.... If I were you, send more documents/ infos/ additional pictures, etc. to prove that marriage is genuine... also explain why your parents didn't come to the wedding... It will be a good idea too if your parents will do up a letter saying that they approved the marriage... letters from friends too might help....

On the foss notes there is a "SERVICE STANDARD DATE" , I think that is the time that they will open your file again in Edmonton... Mine is in Nov. 1, 2012.... One of my friends here in the forum ordered Foss notes (their file was transferred to Vancouver), and the service standard date was Feb. 28, 2012... and yes, they received a letter at the first week of march... and they had a n interview last April 3,2012... then now , they already have the 1st stage approval.... So check it!

Hey Charmine Thanks for your reply and defiantly i will send in more info to the,to
IO so he can get that our marriage is legit. But its ridiculous that they make us wait so long the processing should be done in 18 months complete with pr ,but i see people are waiting for 2 years just for the first stage approval!!!!!
It does not make any sense,If they want to interview us they should have that on the priority not make us wait year long just be four something happens,

If you don't mind me asking when did you apply for pr and when was your file transferred??? And what did they tell you why have they not given u aip or work permit?or even on foss notes?

Did you go to the local office and talked to them about how long it takes be-four they process the file or something, because one of my friend had the same issue
but they transferred his file in 14 months and after 3 weeks of transfer he got a call for interview from Edmonton office just found out yesterday that they gave him 2 weeks of notice for interview and just 3 weeks after his file was transferred and after that it took 6 months to get his pr,he got his pr yesterday.his interview was in last week of December,before Christmas holidays.

So any more info will be helpfull.

Hello again! Yes I agree with you! this process is totally insane!

We applied for my PR in November 2010
Vegreville transferred our file in October 2011 in Edmonton (So imagine the torture?????) They could have just told us earlier to submit additional proofs..... The reason why I did not send them additional infos is because they did not ask for it! When they sent me a form to fill up, they only asked me to update the infos: my education, my work, address and they clearly stated there not to submit anything without them asking.....
(this was in May 2011)

And to our surprise... Oct. of 2011-our file was transferred - I immediately ordered foss notes, and there they put a remark, not enough pictures together (duh! we dont have a tripod that time and it was very clear on the submitted pictures in Nov. that we were taking pictures of each other), age gap, short courtship, etc...etc.... which we answered already through a letter... and then from Nov upto this month, I sent them TONS of stuff, pictures of us together , letters from family and friends, cards, my gosh... It's too many to mention....as in soooo many!!! I can have it book binded after this process!

Wow your friend must be so lucky to have the interview right away and his PR.... I will be the happiest person if they will ask for interview... I want to see an IO face to face!

You know they asked me the exact same info about ,work,education,bla bla nd they told me as well not to submit more info unless asked for the call center said the same thing.but i sent my info like in oct and they transferd it like april,like 6 months later i guess they start looking at the file.

I Have no clue when i will i get my foss notes because i ordered it like 2 weeks ago i still dnt have it i orderd them via email so i duuno,
whats wrong with the IO but i sent in like around 90-100 pics of wedding after wedding bla bla bla and stilli duuno whts going on,i herd they just transfer 50% of the cases like that,just to check and after the new law and stuff they are transferring 85% of cases to local office,and local office are like soo swamped,they were sending files to other office from edmonton to calgary then to Saskatchewan ,every where and rite now edmonton office is so busy they say they are under staff and thinking of sending files from edmonton to somewhere else,its just a chaos rite now,

I wonder if there is another way to get this done,have you tried talking to the mp maybe he/she can get some answers.
The worst part is it takes 6-7 months if your are out of country,they take years if you are inside tht does not make sense.

ow well i hope we can only wait and see because its just stupid.

and i have another questin for you when u applied for your foss notes did u apply for it or your partner did??i just got a letter rite now stating from atip to show proof u in canada or tell someone else to ask for info and pay 5 $ or whatever,because i have to resubmit nd i wana know will they discloses all the info on the file because my wife is sponsoring me so will there be all the info given to me or its better my wife ask for it so mine and her both info will be there ,or its oky if i re-apply with the proofs??

I ordered the foss notes by myself... I did not pay for $5.... I already ordered 3 foss notes.... I always send it by mail and fax. Then I received an email and a hard copy as well....

Just submitted our 7th additional proof/ info today. But other than that nothing at all.

Hey Charmine guess what i found out today, because they have not requested any info and you keep on sending updates they takeout you file out of order and start again at the beginning means every time they pull your file out you loose your place again and again!!!!

Plus did you try getting your foss again??they have changed the forms as well and any time u order your full file it does the same again like
cause of the new forms if you order foss it does not have the box for foss it only says electronic so they pull your whole file out which again make you loose your position in the line so your file starts again from the start of the line,

I found this out from an ex cic officer Edmonton who just retired this march,and he said if you keep on sending info which they have not ask for you will be delaying your own file....


Plus when did u last order your foss and how long did it take to get the info???plus wht did it say on your foss file????were there any codes on there go through it very thoroughly and see if there are any codes on it if yes post it here because i can tell you exactly what they mean and whats going on because he gave me a complete list of the codes and what they mean so we can figure out whats going on....

And another way to find out is tell your spouse to call the local MP..
do you know who is your local mp??which part of the town do you live in??Then tell them the situation ,it will be the office manager who u talk to because the mp will be in Ottawa..... tell then its been so long you guys are frustrated bala bla bla... they will ask all your info and then they will inquire on your file and tell you exactly whats going on....

And how are you depositing your updates and where are you sending it to.....
