LMO Processing

My LMO is being processed at Toronto, Ontario.

Date of submission is 29 July 2013.

Some say HRSDC will send a confirmation of receipt of application within 2 to 3 weeks from the date documents were faxed. LMO outcome will follow a few weeks after this file # is advised.

Others say that the file# provided is a reference to a positive LMO already and hence will be provided only at the end of the approval process, say 8 to 10 weeks.

I am into my 3rd week and employer says no communication from HRSDC till date.

What should I do? Should I have been provided with a LMO file# by now?

Mine was submitted on 12 June 2013 in Toronto, ON and no news up to now. My employer did not receive any acknowledgment. However, when she called HRSDC last week, she was told that my LMO is still in process and cannot disclose definite date of when the decision will be made. :'( I don't have an LMO file number.

Can anyone here please confirm that there's an acknowledgement and file number of sort for all LMO's filed. Coz if this is the case, I should ask my employer to check with HRSDC again....ohh my! This is very confusing and nerve wracking! I am not in my 9th-week and I haven't got any file number nor acknowledgement!

I think it is not mandatory to have received a file number in advance.

The rationale for this is, LMO's only started taking very long since changes in requirements around april / may 2013. Earlier, they used to be quite swift and no one worried about these.

My LMO was applied for by my employer around Dec 2nd or 3rd 2012, and i received it on Dec 20, 2012 (roughly 15 days). Several colleagues of mine (even those who went through different employers, roughly had similar timelines i.e. with in a month. However, all of this was around late last year or at max early this year.

Current situation is totally unknown due to several factors i.e. possible effects of strikes or may be introduction of more strict rules in accepting applications and hence more time.

An update on what I found out through my employer:

When my employer phoned HRSDC, they confirmed that they received my application. Apparently it is up to the officer's discretion whether or not a confirmation letter is sent, and if they don't send one you can't ask for one either since it's optional. They were able to confirm it has been received though so at least we know it's in the queue.

For all other people that have questions on LMO file number, here is a piece of information to share.
