Hi there!

I have applied for the LMO 5 weeks ago and it is still being processed. My current work visa will be up on June 16th coming.

Can I get an extension on my Visa if I have not got my LMO by June 16th?

Any comments welcome, thank you.

hi there,

that depends where you applied. in Ontario it seems to take the longest.

I applied for LMO/CAQ 5 weeks ago in Montreal. I received the AOR for THAT one 1 week ago! Just for example.

well, that depends when your friends' work permit is going to expire. Then she might has enough time to get the LMO, and then apply for the workpermit. alltogether (LMO and Work permit) you should allow 4-5 months, some places even longer.

i don't know which nationality your friend is, but she can possibly still go for one these WHV or Young Professional Visa's. For both, as much as I now, you don't need a LMO. At least that was my case. (German) WHV should give you a 1year OPEN-work permit, the Young Professional should give you up to 18months a permit bound to 1 employer only, where she needs a Job Offer in order to apply. For both of those visa's its to late anyway, i think they will be all gone already. But it starts again by the 1st December every year. Apply early to be the first.

Thats it from my side....

hi tozo,

i already told you the possible options. If she's been told to leave the country, there isn't much to do, She has to leave, especially if everything has already expired.

Again, she needs to find a new employer (which you told me she has already one who wants to get the LMO), and then RE-apply for the work permit. As she can't be in Canada, because CIC has told her to leave, she has to do it in her home country at the embassy.

As for the WHV and Young Professional Visa which have to be done also in your home country.
