What does it mean : restore your status within 90 days ? does it mean that I can reapply a fresh for other type of Visa/WP or leave the country in 90 days?

Yes, CIC will give you this time to either restore your status (apply again for WP/Visitor) or leave the country within 90 days.

I won't apply now because i am still waiting for the results, and i do meet all the requirements, i provided the required documents and all my letters and documents are real so i hope it will all be allright, and if they reject (knock in wood they won't!!!) then i'll call them and either go with visitor straight away or try the restoration. Thank you for your help!

Cool, thanks for the reply! The document pack has been prepared by the HR dept. so I trust they know what they are doing . They (HR) expressed some doubts whether I can extend the WP at POE while the old one is still valid, but I'll give it a try anyway. Really don't want to be on "implied" status
I'll post here with the results of my trip to St-Bernard border crossing.

So as promised I'll share my experiences with extending/obtaining new WP. Instead of St Bernard I had to go on business trip to the US rather urgently, so I ended up going through the Trudeau airport in Montreal. Got to immigration office, waited for about an hour (there were 11 people in front of me), presented the documents to the agent. The agent first made a comment about the fact that I still had 3 weeks left on my work permit, so I could just go and wait for the CIC application but I very politely remarked that I've been waiting for over ah hour for my turn and since all documents are prepared and ready, it would only take him 5 minutes to extend my permit as opposed to 100+ days. The nice agent agreed with that, although noticed that technically what he is doing is not an extension per say but cancellation of my old permit and issuance of the new one. Literally 3 minutes later I have walked out with new WP valid until the end of my passport (18 months).

Btw i am curious, if they reject an application, do they wait until the end of the processing time or do they let you know straight away? Today 2 months ago i filed my application and no news... i wonder, guys, on the basisof what i wrote already,do you think i'll get accepted? Do they have quotas of applications they reject?

sooo, keep your fingers crossed for mine now, I REALLY hope they won't find anything amiss. (they didn't request any medicals or even a police clearance, though it's now been over 2 months since I applied).
