My lawyer told me that hes very optimistic about getting my LMIA approved NOC 7611, he said everything looks good so far and that he will prep the application on Jan 5th unless the rules change, however he said the processing time currently in AB is 8 weeks after submitting the LMIA application.

I'm not sure about that. It may take weeks just to get the file number and payment to be taken. Thats when your wait really starts. Based on recent timelines I think its taking longer that 8 weeks.

Hah, I'm only sharing the information here what he has told me :)

File no. should be within a week of taking payment, I read somewhere here on the forums they got charged after only 3 days after submitting the appliation. I am hoping they would become more faster at processing these applications in January. Having a lawyer complete the paper work also cuts down on the processing times as there will be no incomplete forms.

Having a lawyer doesn't speed the process up at all. Your naivety will eat you inside if you try and be that optimistic about the process. Sorry but expect a few months wait at least.

Being negative is no better though, I do expect it to take 8-12 weeks. They will probably be back logged for a while after everybody gets back to work after holidays

We're about the same. 13 weeks total since application sent in and 4 weeks since payment an file number assigned.
Our employer is using a lawyer too and it hasn't made any difference
Here's to lots of positive results in 2015!!!

Yeah i'm in my 16th week since application in AB too.
Eight weeks may be... If the guys from SC don't mess with your file which appears to be frequent. They did with mine obviously.
And my employer uses a lawyer AND a consultant and it looks like it made no difference either...
