How to Pay Fees
There are two ways to pay for an application processed inside Canada:
• On our website with a credit card; or
• At a financial institution with an official Receipt (IMM 5401).
No other form of payment is acceptable.
Website
You can pay with your Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit card if you have access to a computer with an Internet connection, Adobe Acrobat Reader software, a printer and a valid email address. After you fill out your application:
1. Go to our website and click on Pay your fees in the menu on the left hand side of the screen.
2. Select Pay fees online and click on Go.
3. Follow the instructions.
4. Make your payment and print the receipt. A copy will also be sent to your email address.
5. Fill out the Payer Information section by hand.
6. Include Copy 2 with your application.
Financial Institution
1. Order an official Receipt (IMM 5401) from our website.
2. Go to a financial institution in Canada. Verify with the financial institution if they will accept the payment.
3. Complete the Payer Information section by hand.
4. Include Copy 2 with your application.
When necessary, a refund is made to the person mentioned in the Payer Information section.
If your family members* are included in your application, you can use one receipt.
*A family member is a spouse, common-law partner, dependent child or dependent child of a dependent child.
