Yup! I have dpendents back home, they got the LC2 kit on Feb 15, 2010 and sent all the required docs to CEM on March 17, 2011 ( a little bit late bcoz we waited for my hubby's police clearance from dubai ). The last letter they received from the embassy is the AOR ( APRIL 2011 ). Don't know what's next...

Guys I heard somewhere that the processing for single applicants is a lot faster than the ones with family members included into the application. Did you hear anything like this?

yes.. I always hear this.. but the word 'faster" for immigration is still slow for us! before, the processing for single is 6 months now CIC said its 15 months, almost 3x slower :(

Hi guys , again, I need your help.
I am filling out the open work permit form now. two places I don't understand and I don't know how to choose the answers:

1, I am applying for:
A&B definitely not chosen, but C: An initial work permit or extension of work permit D. Restoration of temporary resident status as a vistor student or worker E. And/ or these temporary resident holder permit sevices: Another temporary resident permit include two passport photos

2. Box10: I want to : extend my stay in Canada utill ________
extend the stay of my family members in canada untill___________
change the conditions
Should I only choose CHANGE THE CONDITIONS? and the REASON?

Bundance of thanks

Hi Ying888,

I just submitted mine a couple weeks ago.

1. Just write “open work permit” at the top of your application (IMM 1249).
2. On this part, I clicked "extend my stay" and "change conditions" Pointed out that I completed my LCP and would like to extend my stay until I receive my OWP and PR. I left the dates blank.

Hope this helps.. :)

The reason the OWP is taking so long is a high number of live in caregivers arriving in Canada in 2008/2009 so CIC is drowning in
LCP application but also the Canadian Government seems to be putting the breaks on the Live in caregiver program.

Remember last year when Minister Kenney announced the “significent improvements “to the Live in caregiver program and all the
caregiver groups cheered him on.

It was actually a ploy to decrease the applications on the program.
By OWP taking longer, caregiver have to work longer as a live in caregivers.

It is much harder now to be employed as a live in caregiver in Canada, my friends overseas asking me to help them but I am unable to find them a job . My former family in Windsor says that the government made the LCP “intentially unappealing to Canadian families" so there are not hiring caregiver anymore…..

I don’t know if it is true but sure almost impossibleto find an employer now.
