Hi Im just new here in canada under LCP also. I just wanted to ask how can I get my PR or have a open work permit eventhough Im just 4months here.

2 months, yha i think so you can still renew it. just try to contact and get some supporting documents from your MP. coz mine expired last may 2011. and still they allow me to have some coverage. valid for 6 months. if my OWP come soon. il just mail it to them to extend it.

Thanks POKNAT!!! I feel i need to hurry up coz after 6 months from the expiration month i have to fill out the application again later when i get OWP.

Hello guyz!

I had a problem now, got a 2nd letter from CIC asking me to submit a Police Certificate from UAE. I didn't include a police cert when I applied for OWP/PR because I just stayed there for less than 6 months. I was in Dubai in 2006 to visit my husband and stayed there for only 4 months & 25 days. As far as I know only applicants who stayed in other countries for 6 months or more in the last 10 years are required to obtain a Police Certificate.

Do I need to process my Police Cert from UAE? I know it's hard to obtain a Police Cert when you're no longer in that country.

I need your help pls...thank you so much in advance!

If I have the same situation as you Ms Kishia, I will comply with what CIC is asking me to submit. I will go to the nearest Commissioners office to have my fingerprints done. The office will then ask you which country you would need a police clearance for. That is the easiest and convenient way I can think. Just bring the letter from CIC. The office will be the one to get a police clearance for you. I have never been to uae, maybe you have other options. Hope this helps.

You have to work 24 months or 3900 hours n 22 months before you can apply for PR under the LCP. OWP comes after first stage approval of the application.

Call CIC and let them know you stayed less than 6 months. Guidelines state 6 months or more.

@boyzone hi can you pls do us a favor?can you pls ask the visa officer again if its possible for may 2010 applicants with dependants to recieve first stage approval/owp by the end of this year?they add another month to it now its 19 mos thanks man will really appreciate it

My husband phoned CIC this morning and he was told that he needs to submit those documents. So I asked him to send me a copy of the letter and what he sent was the checklist for Option 2 but he opted option 1 when he submitted his application last april2010. Is it now mandatory to choose option 2? and for those who chose option 2 can I have any idea on how to make the timesheets?

thanks for the reply.. I had a child back in my country and her father and I are both here in canada. its a long story but my husband cant sponsor our daughter even he already has a PR. is there any way we can get our child and bring her here?

Just talked to the CIC agent, she said that I must comply with what the Immigration Officer is asking...Why now? after 18 months???

I want to send them a letter with my old passport attached as a proof of my ENTRY & EXIT in that country...

Would that be okay?

Yeah really frustrating but atleast they move by 5days when do you pass you application?
