Here's the story...

i apply my live in caregiver application last july 21,2014 here in hongkong. most of the timeline i read it was took about 5 mos. processing. its just almost 3 mos. now and i end my contract here with my employer on november 19,2014.

my question is:

1. is it safe to go home to the philippines and wait there until the canada embassy send my approval letter. then i will go to hongkong as tourist to get the visa and fly directly to canada?

2 or. i will renew my contract here with my employer then go for a vacation?

please help me im really confuse!!!

Better renew your contract for your safe status in HK. You never know what will happen or new policy of CIC. Many applicants do of waiting their approval in the Phil but get into trouble of returning and staying in HK due to some changes of CIC rules. And now some applications take 6 to 8 months. Hope it will help. Goodluck.

I would renew your contract and remain in Hong Kong. First of all, you don't know how long it will take for your application - can you afford to be out of work for 3 to 6 months? Second, what if something happens and it is rejected? Third, you could have difficulty getting back into Hong Kong. Fourth, even if you get back in to Hong Kong, often they only give you a very short time there (e.g. 2 week visitor visa) which might not be long enough to wrap up final details and get on a plane to Canada.

Our nanny did what you are contemplating doing (did not renew her contract, and went home to the Philippines to wait) and although she got here successfully, it was very stressful and there were many bumps in the road. She was also out of work for almost 4 months, which I think was very hard on her, because she is a single mom. Better to cautious - renew your contract and wait in Hong Kong.

Im afraid the phil immigration at the airport will hold me for whatever reason.cause i only have to choices. Go back to phil and wait my visa to be release then go back to hk. Or stay for 2wks in hk and go to macao and wait there. Pls help me to decide which one is better. I really want to go home just for a wk to be with my family but they said it is to risky . Most people here in forum even my friend told me not to go home because first all we never knew if they will give us visa or not. Second your not shure if they will allow you to get back here as tourist or if so you will only stay for 2 weeks what if your visa not yet release before 2 weeks? So much better if you will wait here or if you can renew to your employer and ask for early vacation then do it. That's what I've done right now.

By the way may I know your timeline?

Thanks ana . But the problem is i will not renew my contract with them. They already bought a ticket for me back to manila in nov 30. I pass my application last july and hopefully visa will be release before the end of dec. So i wanna take a chance of spending time with my children and get back here in hk as tourist
once my visa release. Is it really too risky to go back to phil and re enter hk again.? Are the immigration officer at the airport can trace my ongoing applications in hk canadaian consulate . If that happens what are the important documents that i need bring and show them to let me pass.? Pls i need help

hi.
i submitted my papers to last july. and been waiting until now. i have an emergency in the philippines right now so ive decided to break my contract here in macau and wait for the response in the phil. but there is no guaranty that i can get the visa. i will yake the risk of going home.if ever the embassy will send me a passport request. i plan to go back here in macau tohether with nu husband and son.

i have a friend just came in hk. she said to me when the immigration officer ask her her reason for going in hk is that. she will go in canadian embassy and submit a requiremnt that the embassy requested. she presented the leter from the embassy. she said they interogated her for an hour. and afyer asking her many question the officer gave her the visa.

Oh well. Just take the risk. I think there wil be no problem with your application in Canadian consulate. You just bring the letter from cic and tell them the truth the you will give some document to Canadian consulate and bring a show money just n case the Phil immigration ask you.

Has anybody here had this experience of going back home and wait for the request to arrive,
and then returning here to HK as tourist?
Thanks so much..
