Now I'm confused lol.

So PA is a national of country A. Has a passport issued by country B.

How is that possible? Dual citizenship?

So on the passport, or every passport, it states where the passport was issued. We live outside of her home country (A), so when it expired, we had it renewed here (B), and so on the passport under issuing authority it states country B.

Ah I understand now.

I've never renewed my passport abroad, but I thought if a Canadian embassy abroad issued me a new passport the issuing authority would still be Canada?

In the PAs case here it's not Canada, however still, her home country isn't mentioned as the issuing authority.

But when I renewed my Canadian passport abroad it also stated the actual country it was renewed in as the issuing authority.

So this leaves me confused, would issuing country in this case be home country, or actual country of issue/renew as per what's written on the passport.

Yeahhh. I have finally succeeded in linking up my application.. For those of you that have ur passport issued in another country rather that ur original country, use the country where ur passport was issued and application number then use the PA's information..

Wish u all luck

As in, ALL the details in the form should be the PA's details, as well as it being their MyCIC account used for linking?

Yes, I know PA passport is not Canadian, or there would be no app haha!

I always thought even if it was issued abroad it would still be issued by Canada for your passport. It is the Canadian embassy issuing it, and every Canadian embassy is technically Canadian soil..

I say try entering whichever option you haven't tried and see if it works for you.

I still think you should inform CIC that the issuing country of PA passport isn't PA home country just to be safe.

Good point :)

We could, although it's stated very clearly on the actual passport. It writes out the exact country it was issued in under the issuing authority section.

Background check is always needed.

This is the criminality and security checks performed by CSIS that are standard for all PR apps.

Yes, but CIC doesn't like incorrect answers on forms lol.

I wouldn't be surprised if they requested a new one.

I would say yes, include them.

I'm a citizen and the sponsor and I had to include myself to link my wife's application.
