Our former live in Filipena nanny has a new employer, and she just received a letter saying her work permit has been reviewed, and she must go to Seattle for an interview in two weeks.
Why on earth does she have to go there? I'm going to check her Visa, but I don't think she's even allowed to visit the U.S., is she? She has a temporary Canadian Visa with an expiry date of 2013. The letter specifically says the interview cannot be conducted in Canada.
How do they expect a nanny on minimum wage to have the money to take a flight to Seattle, stay overnight in a hotel, etc? I can't find anything to explain this, and can't call Immigration Canada until Monday. She's so upset and worried.
