hello:
I am visiting South Africa and want to invite a friend to stay with me in Canada....I am wondering if I give them a letter of invitation from within South Africa... as long as they have a copy of my passport does it need to be notarized? The embassy said "notarized or at least signed"....What does that mean?

thanks

Hello again,

Your letter of invitation does not have to be notarized. You signing the letter will be good enough. My hubby use to email the letters of invitation to me and I submitted that. It was accepted.

Hey,

I read today on CIC website, it says some visa offices might require the letter of invitation to be notarized, so I think notarizing it would be a good idea, ...

Hi,
In general practise You don't have to notarised it but You can. I have wrote a invitation letter for my sister, by hand and signed at the bottom of that letter, and appearently it was accepted by visa officer.
