Hi everyone,

I drafted the following invitation letter for my wife. The purpose is to invite her to Canada so we can have our honeymoon. We are applying for multi-entry visa so she can visit me in the future. Please note, i am currently working in China, and I will returning to Canada by end of 2013. She has a job in China.

---------------------------------
Dear Immigration Officer,

My name is XX XXX, born in XX XX, 19XX. My residence address is XXXXXXXXXXXX, Burnaby, BC, Canada, and my current phone number 139xxxxxxxx. I became a Canadian permanent resident in April 2011 and the copy of my permanent resident card is attached. I am currently working for XXXX(a Canadian firm) as a project engineer on a two years project in China, and my annual compensation is XXXXCND. My assignment in China ends in 2013 and I will return to Canada by end of 2013. I would like to invite my wife, XX XXX (Born XX XX, 19XX, Passport GXXXXXXX, home address: XXXX, Unit 2, Building 2, XXXXX East, XXXXXXX District, Beijing, China) to Canada where we will have our honeymoon in June of 2013. We will spend two weeks in Vancouver, and two weeks in Montreal. We will be staying in my home (address above) in Vancouver, and in a hotel in Montreal. I will be paying for this entire trip and any costs incurred by her during her visit. She will be returning to China on July 5th, 2013 as planned. The purpose of the multi-entry visa is so she can visit me in the future while she continues to work in China.

Sincerely.

Much appreciated if you can comment on this, your experience will be very valuable for us to obtain the TRV.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
1) Letter of invitation is not addressed to the immigration office but to your wife. So it should be something like this:

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/invitation-letter-critique-svp-t42694.0.html;msg307089#msg307089

2) compensation should be either in CNY, RMB or CAD. There is no such currency as CND.

BTW, why don't you sponsor your wife for immigration instead - take only about 8 months?

Thank you very much for your reply Steaky.

My letter was drafted base on the following requirements from CIC official site:

Since I cannot post links, please Goolge Letter of Invitation under CIC. CIC has a page on Letter of Invitation specifically.

So it is misleading who this letter should be addressed to. Normally, this letter should be addressed to the person I am inviting. But the immigration officer will be the one who is reading it and understand our purpose of this trip.

You have forwarded me a great post as it helped me understand how we should approach the TRV. However, the letter gillespiedc wrote clearly does not meet the requirement by the link i just posted. So I am bit confused here.

Since I am still working in China, I cannot sponsor her at this moment. But we do intend to go to Canada in June.

Thanks again!

Steaky,

I think I got the idea now :)

The letter should be addressed to my wife with all the required detail provided.

Thanks,

Tom

I am still trying to find out if the letter of invitation is addressed to the visitor or to the visa officer in reference to the vistors TRV application.

It should be to the visitor, and it should contain all the information about the person you are inviting (name, DOB, address), and yourself (name, DOB, address, current employment, compensation).

The key is to highlight the purpose of his/her trip, and provide evidence that the person will leave Canada upon the visa expiry date.

Anyway, this is how i interpreted, and hope we get the TRV. We are submitting our application soon, will let everyone know.

One more question, how long is the multi-entry visa usually? 10 years? and how long can the person legally stay with this visa? 6 month?

Thanks

I don't think it really matters. I recently sent a letter of invitation addressed to the CHC in the city where the person I was sponsoring would be applying. In the letter, I explained the purpose of the invitee's visit, pledged my financial support, provided the details of the visit (dates, residential address, etc.) and other relevant details, and the visa was approved. Good luck!
