I understand many of you have got rejections and are in dire need of help. But you have to structure your questions before you post on this thread.

Try to mention what is your exact profile, what was your undergraduate field and degree, what is your citizenship, if you have travel history, which University and course you have applied to, the rejection reasons and most importantly the documents you had submitted for your application. Without these details none of the members can help you. Also, I'd suggest refrain from personal messages, because a conversation on this thread might help someone else in future.

I understand a rejection is never easy, and if not for the help on this forum I would not have received an approval last year so I am happy to help.

Hi, I got rejected in July on the following basis;
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.
• Pursuant to paragraph 220(a) of the IRPA, I am not satisfied that you have sufficient and available financial resources, without working in Canada, to pay the tuition fees for the course or program of studies that you intend to pursue.
• Pursuant to paragraph 220(b) of the IRPA, I am not satisfied that you have sufficient and available financial resources, without working in Canada, to maintain yourself and any family members who are accompanying you during your proposed period of study.
• Pursuant to paragraph 220(c) of the IRPA, I am not satisfied that you have sufficient and available financial resources, without working in Canada, to pay the cost of transporting yourself and any family members who are accompanying you to and from Canada.

My profile: BSc in Counseling Psychology 2017
Proposed course: 1year Postgraduate diploma in Human Resource Management at Durham College
Work experience 2years in Human Resources.
Citizenship: Nigerian
No travel history.
Tuition fee of $12,569 paid out of $16,000.
Documents submitted:
1. School degrees transcript and certificates.
2. Employment letter
3. Study leave approval
4. Mum’s Bank statement
5. Uncle’s bank statement (Sponsor) Of over 30m
6. Sworn affidavit
7. Letter of sponsorship.

I have deferred my admission to January 2020. Please I need help in countering this issues

I have been admitted to University of Waterloo for MMath CS for Fall 18. I had applied for study permit on 24th May 2018 from India and my application was rejected (reasons below). I have put together a letter of explanation for the refusal. If interested, please review the same and post your thoughts, might be very helpful for me and other re-applicants.

Really appreciate your time :) Here's the draft:

Subject: Student Visa Permit Re-application Reference File no: ***

Respected Authority,

This letter is in reference to the re-application of my student visa. My previous application was returned with a couple of questions, which I have respectfully answered in this application. I have also made significant changes to my study permit application by adding new documents, as listed towards the end of this letter.

Please allow me to address the reasons that were stated in the correspondence letter, which are as follows:

1. You have not satisfied me that you would leave Canada at the end of your stay. In reaching this decision, I considered several factors, including:
· Purpose of visit
· Travel history
2. Your proposed studies are not reasonable in light of one or more of:

· Your language qualifications are insufficient.

JUSTIFICATION:

(a) Purpose of Visit

I have been admitted to the prestigious University of Waterloo for Master of Mathematics in Computer Science (Coursework) program. This program is offered by University of Waterloo’s Cheriton School of Computer Science department, which is very well reputed globally and is home to several distinguished computer scientists.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering and for the past two years, I have been working as Business Intelligence and Analytics Consultant in Bangalore. My current job involves helping organizations extract useful information with data analytics and mathematical models. I have realized that in order to engage in challenging projects for data analytics, I need to undertake graduate studies and build upon my knowledge. There is a considerable overlap between Mathematics and Computer Science, especially when dealing with data analytics. Cheriton School of Computer Science offers several courses that incorporate this overlap very well.

My sole purpose of visiting Canada is to attend University of Waterloo for this program. I wish to learn advanced computer science subjects specializing in data analytics as it will help me expand my knowledge & expertise in this field. I also wish to interact with the pioneers of this field at University of Waterloo, and learn from their experience.

Upon completion of my program in Canada, I wish to return to my family in India and pursue a career in data analytics. India is an emerging data analytics hub for both private and government organizations. This field holds immense potential for professionals with an advanced skillset in data analytics. A graduate degree from University of Waterloo coupled with two years of work experience in India, will help me pursue a challenging career at research and development departments related to data analytics in India.

To further underline my purpose of visiting Canada, I have attached the receipt of my first-year tuition fee payment from University of Waterloo along with a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) from ICICI bank to cover my expenses for the first year.

(b) Travel History

As submitted with my application, I hold a single passport with number *** issued by Government of India on ***, valid until ***. I do not hold any passport from other countries. Also, I do not hold any expired passport issued by India or any other country.

As shown in my submitted passport, I have not yet travelled to any other countries outside of India until now. I did not have any purpose to visit other countries until now as I have been focused on my academic and professional goals, preparing for a higher education.

(c) Insufficient Language Qualifications

To underline my English language qualification, I have attached my TOEFL scorecard with the application. I had appeared for a TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet based test) exam on 6th August 2016 and scored a total of 108 out of 120. Individual-section wise I have scored reading-28, listening-25, speaking-27 and writing-28.

My TOEFL scores have been accepted by University of Waterloo as proof of my English language proficiency. The minimum required TOEFL score for my program is 100 (As mentioned on University website: https://cs.uwaterloo.ca/future-graduate-students/applying-admissions).

Additional Information: New documents that are enclosed with this re-application are listed below.

1. First year tuition fee receipt from University of Waterloo – CAD 22,800
2. Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) – CAD 10,025
3. Family wealth statement from Chartered Accountant
4. Property Evaluation Document Copy

To conclude, I would like to bring to your attention that I have got a confirmed admission to University of Waterloo for Masters of Mathematics in Computer Science course for Fall 2018. I would request you to kindly reconsider my study permit application and grant me the approval, so I can pursue higher studies in Canada.

All the details furnished by me and all the documents attached with my applications are true and correct. For any further clarification, please reach out to me on the below details and I would be happy to address your concerns.

Thank you very much for your valuable time.

Yours Sincerely,
***

HI,

I got a rejection on Oct 12th and I am planning to reapply. My reason for refusal was: I am not satisfied that you will return back to India.

May I know how to get the property evaluation document and did you attach all your property details in the CA report. I am worried if it would be an issue if we showed too much of assets aswell.

Thanks,
Rosita

Hi Guys,

This thread is great and was able to get so much information on how to tackle the refusal of the student visa.

I don't know if it’s the right thread to ask my query, but definitely my concern is related to this thread. And would make much easier for people to understand and answer.

Please let me know if I need to create a separate thread.

All the threads here answered how to tackle the rejection reasons and re-application. I wanted to know how we can address and satisfy immigration with our first application.

I mean, can we address all these issues initially instead of having the headache of refusal and reapplication?

To explain the case in detail:
My spouse wants to do a Masters in Professional Accounting. His profile is as below:
  • He completed B.Sc in Biotechnology from SRN Adarsh College, Bangalore (Bangalore University) in 2005.
  • He then pursued to do his MBA at the University of Wales, Cardiff, UK and completed in 2008.
  • He joined Jubliant Biosys (Bangalore) as Executive - Business Development and worked for almost 2 years.
  • He had a strong passion to do UPSC, and so he moved to Delhi to study UPSC, however, he could not successfully score the required points he came back to Bangalore and joined Advinus Therapeutics (Bangalore) as Assistant Manager - Business Development and worked there for almost 2.5 years.
  • Then he joined GVK Biosciences (Hyderabad) as Deputy Manager - Sales & Marketing and worked for almost 1.5 years.
  • Then he joined Syngene International, A Biocon Group (Bangalore) as Manager - Business Development and worked for almost 3 years.

In short, he has an overall professional experience of 10 years in Life Sciences companies.

He has efficiently handled Business Development activities across various domains including Strategic Planning, Market Research, Competitive Analysis, Pricing, Financial & Revenue reports compilation, Proposals compilation, Customer requirements and working closely with the IP, Supply Chain, Scientific teams and other support departments to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. His professional role gave the exposure of working and interacting with global clients mainly from the US and Europe. As part of his roles, he frequently traveled to the US and Europe for meeting clients, discussion on new and existing business opportunities. He has procured a broad understanding of work culture, ethics, and dynamics. He has been recognized within my organization for the effective building of customer base and many other appreciations.

Though he has rich 10 years’ experience primarily in the management domain and his exposure to finance and accounting was minimal. During his professional journey and as part of his role, he had the opportunity of closely working with senior finance colleagues (Corporate controller & CFO) where he regularly had to take their inputs in structuring and finalizing many of the business plans. He invariably felt the importance of their role which was a mandatory requirement to make informed and responsible decisions for organizational growth. He always had this urge and passion to undertake a good Master program in Accountancy and Finance so that he can target a higher designated job in the organization.

Please let me know your thoughts and a few things to target and to be taken care of at the very first of the application stage.

I appreciate any advise.

Thanks.

Hello, @archit.shah
I have a question for you since I have been into same situation. I recently got a refusal letter and the two reasons were:

1) “I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.”

2) “Your proposed studies are not reasonable in light of your qualifications, previous studies, missing mark sheets, academic record, level of establishment, language abilities, financial ability, and/or your prospects and plans.”

For the first time, I did not submit a LOE at all. I just filled the documents and submitted and got rejection. i am reapplying again with a LOE but like you did in your LOE about mentioning the reasons in your new application. Do I need to do the same thing? should i mention the reasons in my letter or do i just start my letter as a new applicant and dont mention about my refusal at all? Please help me with this as soon as possible.

Hello,
I got denied my study permit application also yesterday. This is very sad I must say .
The reason is quite similar to yours,

“I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence”

and also “I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR based on the purpose of your visit”

My admission to Assiniboine Community College is for January 2019.

Please, how do you think I can respond to this, also isn’t it too late?
I will be grateful for any assistance, or if I could get your email address.
Regards

please someone should help me address these reasons for visa refusal.

Thank you for your interest in visiting Canada. After careful review of your student permit application and supporting documentation, I have determined that your application does not meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). I am refusing your application on the following grounds:

I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.

I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence.
