Hi,

I have a letter from my previous employer (From Jan 2012-June 2014) that I worked with them, which I am going to attach to the application. I do NOT want to ask a letter from present employer. However I can attach a T4 slip for 2014 and then few pay stubs from 2015 to prove that I am employed with this employer. Do you suggest I should attach that?

1. Attach a letter from previous employer and T4 and paystubs from present employer
2. Attach a letter from previous employer but nothing from current employer (this will create doubt in their mind why I have not attached a letter)?
3. DO NOT attach anything just attach the T4 slips/Tax assessment from the last years
4. Dont attach letters as well as T4's/Tax assessments as its not asked for

Which option should I choose? Thanks in advance. pros and cons of each option?

With the initial application, you are not required to submit any work proof.

I second coolguysam's comment.

Also, CIC does not take letters from employers (or schools) very seriously due to the ease of forgery.

So, if CIC requests proof of employment from you in the future, T4s, employment contracts or pay stubs are better than letters.

Although you are not required to submit proof of employment, for your peace of mind I would recommend Option 1. Attach a letter from previous employer and T4 and paystubs from present employer.
Dont stress over it, many people here did not submit proof of employment and went through the citizenship process without any issues.

I was going through the instruction guide and the required documents, and I was somewhat surprised that they don't require a tax assessment (unless I missed something, which is always my fear heh) — which is one of the few documents I'm still waiting on. So I'll be able to send it soon (I have no idea how long it will take until I get my NOA from CRA — it was filled by paper, and I hear it takes 4-6 weeks but sometimes longer).

Can you just follow the requirements from CIC?
