'Letter Accompanying the visa' question

Hi all,

In GC Key, we received a 'Letter Accompanying the visa' and Mr LL got an email today, saying CoPR is being issued.

The weird thing is in the 'Letter Accompanying the visa', in the table he is listed twice:

  • same name
  • same validity date
  • same UCI
  • different type (IMM form numbers listed); IMM5785 and IMM5688
  • and 'different' name with two separate 'T123456789s' type codes in the final column

Anyone know why this is or what it means? Or is it an error?

Thanks in advance.

Very happy!

LL

Has no one received such a letter?

Thanks,

LL
What else does the letter say?

Did your spouse receive the COPR as a separate document? Is the information in the COPR correct?

I don't understand as we got the copr along with some basic form letters etc, don't recall any table as you're referring to.

Received the exact same thing. This is not an error. One of those forms is the CoPR, which you should receive by mail. The second is the visa, which is either added to your passport if you are not from an eTA country or applied electronically if you are from one of those countries.

We received the CoPR but not the second form, as it was applied electronically. It is explained in the letter, though, I have to say the language isn't exactly super clear.

Thanks.

This is what I thought. I am assuming the second part is applied electronically only, as Mr LL is a UK citizen only.

Still waiting on the actual CoPR. Had an email and an update on GC Key on 26th July 2021, so hope we get CoPR soon!

We haven't physically received CoPR as yet, so we don't know. We just a confirmation email and an update (and the Letter Accompanying the Visa) in GC Key on Monday.

But what else does this "Letter Accompanying the Visa" say?

Anyway, weird. I'm incljined to say not to worry about it, London just seems to do things a bit differently, at least for EU/visa waiver citizens.

It's quite lengthy. I'll see if I can scan a redacted copy.

If you sent to VFS or something of the sort, you should get update on where the package is and all that. It took a week for us to get the paper version in hand :)

Or just the main points/general areas. We got some general etter with a lot of tips and instructions but I don't think it was personalized, can't recall.
Basically, it is the letter you received from the High Commission after PPR, once your documents have been forwarded/move to the embassy and your application is approved. It just lets you know the documents are on their way to you, what they are and what to do.

Goes about like this:

"Your application for a permanent resident visa has been approved.

If you are receiving this letter electronically via your online account, please note that the documents referenced below are being sent to you in the mail with a copy of this letter. If you are receiving this letter by mail, all documents mentioned below, if applicable to you, accompany this letter.

You have now been issued your Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) form (IMM5292 or IMM5688) for you and all accompanying dependants. Do not make any corrections to the COPR. Do not sign the COPR until instructed to do so by an Immigration Officer at landing.

Please note that as of December 1, 2011, citizens of visa-exempt countries will not have a counterfoil affixed to their passport. These applicants will only be issued a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) form and an electronic foil (IMM5785). For a list of visa-exempt countries, please see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp#exemptions . This may mean that some of your family members required a counterfoil in their passport while others were issued COPRs and electronic foils only.

Note that if your children do not have passports, but are listed in your passport or your spouse’s passport, their counterfoil, if required, is affixed in that passport.

**Table with details**

Your documents are valid only if all family members (spouse, common-law partner, dependent son or daughter) have been declared and examined. You must therefore inform us of any change in your marital status or in your family composition (marriage, common-law relationship, separation, divorce, birth of a child, adoption, death, etc.) BEFORE you leave for Canada. We will let you know what further procedures are required.

Presenting a Confirmation of Permanent Residence form (COPR) and a passport with a counterfoil, if required, which do not correspond to the reality of your situation could result in the refusal of your admission to Canada. Any current family member not examined now can never be sponsored by you in the future.

We have also enclosed a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (CPR) form for each person in your family who will be traveling to Canada. Each person must carry this form with his or her passport to Canada. Your children should each have their own CPR.

If any accompanying person was not provided a COPR or with a counterfoil, if required, please contact this office immediately.

DO NOT SIGN YOUR CPR UNTIL TOLD TO DO SO BY THE IMMIGRATION OFFICER AT THE PORT OF ENTRY IN CANADA.
(A port of entry is a border crossing or an international airport.)

At the time of your arrival in Canada, you will be interviewed, and granted entry into Canada based on the information in the documents that we are providing to you now. Each person will be asked to sign his or her document. A child 14 years of age or over must sign his or her own form. The parent must sign for a child under the age of 14 (the parent must sign his or her own name and not the child's name).

YOU MUST ARRIVE IN CANADA ON OR BEFORE: DD/MM/YYYY

We wish you a pleasant journey and every success in your future in Canada."

Yup, it's exactly this.

No CoPR yet. High Commission received photos 22nd July 2021 and Mr LL by email / GC key said application approved, so was really hoping we'd have CoPR by tomorrow.

Sigh.
