@ KatrinaMichelle, Yes I have dependents too. You're right, another 2 year waiting for processing after you have already complied with the PR requirements is agonizing. If only I can fast forward the time just to be with my family.

Really? I didn't know that. You mean your spouse at your home country can apply for an Open work permit once you already have your AIP?

yes ...one chinese on fb thread shared that to me and his husband got here in canada last november with owp co terminus with her she applied after she got her aip ..so im wondering if someone did this in the phil ? processing fee is 155$ +medical and took him only a month to get owp :)

Hey Jackie,

I did read that thread in FB but i can't seem to understand her reply when you asked her about the requirements... For the benefit of everyone reading this, can you please clarify the necessary requirements to apply for a spousal OWP after getting AIP?

Thank you so much jacky

Hey guys, to my knowledge, the spouse has to be inside Canada to qualify to apply for an open permit upon the principal applicant's receipt of AIP. I was informed of that fact by a CIC agent when I personally wanted to get information on this issue. It is very disappointing. We so desperately want to b reunited with our families and we are met with so many stumbling blocks a mountains of waiting time. Hopefully God will smile upon us this year.

Hello Everybody,
I am new here, need help from your knowledge and experiance.
I am a girl from Pakistan and my fiance is in canada on
PGWP(post-graduate work permit). He has recently got a job offer
from a bank. This job does count towards PR(so i guess it should be a type
NOC type A but i am not sure). We want to get married now so my
concern/question is what ia the better/quicker way to get in canada?

- Should I apply as a student in a Universty and come their as a student
and then get married??
OR
- Should I get married first and then apply spouse open work permit on the
Basis of my then husband??

Can please help me and guide me?
I will be grateful for ur valuable replies.

Posted that inquiry on FB since a lawyer told my niece that LIC may be allowed.Called cic and he said that we are actually eligible.he sent me an email but there was no instruction on how to process or the other documents to be submitted.my niece called CIC and they told her that we are not eligible.
If you want, you can let your husband apply for a visitor's visa and let him apply for OWP when he gets here. Was opting to do the latter but then decided to wait some more since there are a lot of progress with those who have passed earlier.

Did the january 2013 applicants receive their AIPs already? Was wondering if people are really receiving their AIPs 14-15 months after sending their applications..

I'm Feb.2013 lic applicant...waiting and praying for aip soon...what's ur timeline?c",)

My husband sent ours april 2013.. It would be such a relief to find out if CIC is sticking with the 14-15 months timeframe for the AIPs..
