I called CIC today, the agent told me my PGWP was approved. She was so nice. It was the only time a gent asked my application number and checked the status for me ( I called 3 times before). But I checked my CIC online and it still says OPEN. I think it might take a few days to process. I applied on May 25.

Good luck everyone!

Hi guys, I applied on may 9th and I have not received my pgwp yet. It is really troubling. I tweeted my mp but there is no response. Is there any other way we can find contact number of the new mp?

Slimteddy and all Members,

I can understand and feel your frustration with waiting that is endless. But like all human beings we all have our faults, inadequacies, mistakes, innocence, ignorance of other people's situations, and sometimes naivety.

CIC agents aren't "all over the place". Believe it or not they know exactly what they plan to tell each caller. Here are the common ones;

a- "Your application has been forwarded for further review."
b- "It will take another 16 weeks to process."
c- "Just continue waiting until month X or Y, and if you don't hear from us during that time, you can call back again."
d- "A note has been put on your application to remind the respective department about the delay."
e- "We received your $100 fee on date XYZ not the day you paid it."
d- Or any other irrelevant stuff they concoct and tell you.

All the above are a polite way of saying; "back-off" or "other immigration programs are more important."

I can bet you that almost every caller who has called or will call about PGWP has received or will receive one or more of such responses.

As applicants you all need to interpret the verbal language that is hidden behind what they say or what they mean. Don't you ask yourselves why they tell each caller the same things over and over again? They know that they messed up the online system when the new $100 fee rolled out (Feb 21, 2015). They won't admit it though because that would be a liability admission on their part.

Secondly, paying your extra OWP holders fee of $100 through CSE has absolutely nothing to do with speeding up the process. If it was, then most applicants (and not just May 15th applicants) would have got their PGWP already. Paying the OWP holder fee is entirely every applicant's responsibility. The CSE site has various functions and the ability to upload any document that contributes to someone's application is one of them.

Therefore, when you feel like you are being played on the phone like Pingpong ball, use other means such as some helpful MPs, employer, lawyer, and going public. Going public has shaken things up. The more of you complain publicly, the better the service you receive.

Have you guys ever thought about the processing time and how it increases?

Guess what? The trick is to buy themselves time such that even when you complain on the phone, they will say, "your application is still within processing time." Its like taking a penalty kick. As soon as you are about to kick the ball, the goalkeeper moves the goalposts to a different position. The reason why some people receive updates on the weekend is because some CIC employees actually work on the weekend. I discovered this recently. So one would think that maybe things would go a little faster (unless of course those who work weekends don't process applications).

I can understand that CIC is quite busy with so many immigration programs. But why online applications can't be processed quickly and swiftly with all documentation presented to them on a silver plate by applicants is beyond me (not entirely though!!!). I hope that the CIC application processing teams/departments have not been on a strike for a long time.

Something smells fishy there!

What do you guys think?

Cheers!

Jubear, cannot agree more! The agent I spoke even expressed that it has nothing about CIC, and the Delay is all our fault. Only because someone submitted fake documents, they have to review our applications several times. It is ridiculous.

Kinkiww,

I wouldn't be surprised if someone submitted fake documents. It happens and it shouldn't be news to them. However, that isn't an excuse for the current PR and PGWP fiasco. I strongly believe that CIC needs to hire more people to tackle this problem. If the CIC staff are overworked and not given enough time to recuperate from their hard work, then they will be stressed. We all know what stress does to people.

If CIC can hire a lot more people for those immigration programs that are in demand, it will immensely reduce the workload of current employees. Applications will be processed a lot faster. Stress on CIC employees and applicants will be reduced. CIC's global image will be seen in a positive new light. Economically the country benefits especially in the long-term. Lastly, everyone will be happy.

Cheers!

Hi jubear,
I called cic today. Few weeks back they told me that I will know about my status by Nov 12. Now they are saying that I have to wait till March as cic is reviewing my application. They said all required documents are there but it will take till end of March. I am very shocked to hear this. I applied on may 9th. I tweeted my mp but did not get reply. May I get contact information of other mps in other areas? Please advise.

Thanks in advance

Swqcda,

Calling and Twitting your MP about your personal situation won't yield much. If you want your situation to be taken seriously you will need to get out of the house and locate your old or new MP and talk about it in person. I'm not a big fun of phone calls and emails when it comes to urgent and personal matters. Be proactive. If I were you I would go and find my MP. He/she has to be somewhere. Don't let your MP or CIC get away with it that easily especially if you know that your lifeline is based on that PGWP document. Processing your WP is already long overdue.

Do you like waiting until March 2016 or do you want to do something about it?

Good luck, stay calm, and positive.

Cheers!

I tweeted my MP and messaged him on FB, he has seen the message and even my tweet for sure as on twitter i can see his activity after my post, but didnt reply, i guess i will try hard to find any other mp (of nearby area to my home) and try to meet in person... i cant wait till March next year, CIC is playing with our life now

Whenever you call CIC's call center, agents be like:

"...And I know when that hotline bling
That can only mean one thing..."

Lmao, just to take some heat off.. ;D

This is scary! so why they are giving false hope by updating the the processing time on the website?
Swqcda did you ask them why people who applied later then you got already the work permit?

Pgwp2015 and others still waiting,

I'm sure you already know this. But guess what? A lot of international students are going to complete their programs this December and some by March 2016. You also know what this means. More competition for a PGWP, more delays and complications in the process. Oh, it evens gets better; as always the CIC online service will become unavailable for sometime because its either congested with traffic or clogged up with applications. It happens several times every year. So go figure!!!

The last thing you all need to know is this: Even when there is a change in policies or regulations, there are those who are affected and those who benefit immensely. Those who tend to benefit are those who apply after a new policy or regulation has been announced. Old applicants might suffer from the old policies. And vice-versa.

Its imperative that you guys push for this harder before 2015 ends. Go find your MPs wherever they are. Implore your MPs and go public if possible so that something can be done. Try harder and don't give up on yourselves.

Cheers!
