In your email also indicate your
1. Application Number
2. UCI Number
3. Document Number
Its important that CIC refers to your file using those 3 numbers.

And yes i liked your suggestion of sending email to questin @ cic. But i might wait a bit more ( 4 to 5 day) before sending an email to them.

You don't need LMIA. PGWP are open and are LMIA exempt.
You don't need a job offer to apply or renew in your case.
Follow the same process of applying for a PGWP.
You will need to write a letter of explanation that details your circumstance/reasons.
