Hi everyone.
Want to share my experience today of flagpole.
I live in Calgary, so the closest big border is 300 km away - Coutts. It took me 3 hours drive to get there. I was on the border around 3 pm.
First I got to US border. I said that I need to see Canadian immigration officer to apply for work permit. He took my passport, asked me to park in the front of there building, sit inside and wait for papers. I got 2 papers from them. After they explained how I can make U-turn and get to Canadian side.
Other there I talked to the officer, showed my papers and she let me drive and park in the from of the CBSA.
I went inside - only 1 person. I said to the officer that I want to apply for PGWP. Showed her all documents. She asked me lot of questions. All of them were fare - where did I study, why I moved to Calgary, how I get financial support....

After 30 min she printed my PGWP and I was free to go.

I still can't believe that I got it.
I was waiting as you all 4.5 months. I applied online May 1st. I called CIC every day asking about my application, asking how and what can I do to get my WP. I was so desperate. I lost one contract and was about to loose another 2 offers.

It was a huge stress and crying every day. I don't know how I would get through all that without family and friends support.

For those who desperate and can't wait 130 or 200 days - I would recommend to go to the border. may be I was lucky, but it worked.

• What documents did you bring with you?
• It's past the 90 days of graduation isn't it?
• Did you revealed you applied online?
• What do you think that helped you get the PGWP?

I am also in the same situation. I applied on August 31st (to early to ask for my WP I know). However I just got a dream job offer and the employer doesn't seem to want to wait for months to be sure of my future status.

I live quite far from the border so I wonder if you think going to the nearest international airport and explain the situation to the immigration officer will help? Being an international airport, they should have some ki d of facilities to print WP for immigrants I suppose....

Please let me know your thoughts.

After waiting for over 3 months, my work permit was approved.

Applied: 8th June
Blank updates: A couple, did not pay attention to the dates.
Approved: 11th September
Waiting to receive it in the mail.

I applied on April 15th...didn't pay the 100$ fee because I had no idea, never received any email asking me to pay, I took proactive steps on August 20th when a friend told me about the fee, paid it and sent the receipt through case specific enquiry...nothing so far September 12th...What is happening ...pretty desperate.

Sorry to hear that you are still waiting since April 15th. I have a quick question for you though;

Have you taken proactive steps to check the status and details of your online application through your MyCIC account? Checking only your email isn't enough. If you haven't, please do and let us know exactly what you see.

Hi Jubear thanks for your reply. I should've been more precise, by email I actuality meant the messages on MyCiC account. The only messages on there are the confirmation of submission and transmission...from that moment on, the silence.
I called the call centre twice and they weren't of much help. On August 31st I left Canada (therefore I can't even call them anymore) and planning on returning on the 1st of October to start a post-doc. HR people at the University were asking to see the work permit to issue an offer letter but of course I don't have it so in order for me to start they're proceeding with the regular post doc route (pay a 230$ fee and apply to CIC for an employer specific permit I'm assuming) and I don't know what will happen now when CIC sees 2 applications for the same person...PGWP is still "open" status....thoughts?

Guys,
I need your opinion on my situation. I got my WP yesterday. My TRV (on study permit expired on july 30th). I have to travel out of Canada end of this month. I understand that I have time to apply for TRV and get approved, but don't have time to send my passport for stamping.

I was wondering if I can get my TRV approved here and do flagpolling to get my passport stamped with TRV visa?.

Please help...

It's only 90 days after you get the letter stating you're eligible to graduate.

Also, you shouldn't reveal that you applied online.

Hi,

I applied work permit on 23rd June and have not heard as of now.
I have just realized that my photo was not as per the specification. Is there any way I can update my photo again. In case if there is no way to change the pic now, does the CIC officer ask for the new photo or he rejects the application if he finds the photo not exactly as per the specification.

Hi everyone, I have questions regarding the refund for the application fee from cic. I requested refund on July 17th and got a reply saying once my case is opened, it should be cancelled and I will receive the refund in 16 weeks. I have had a few blank updates but don't think my application has been cancelled yet. Also the original application was submitted on May 27th. How long did it take you to get the refund? Thanks in advance.
