wow, the processing times are at 99 days now...when i applied it was at 67..so does that mean I count 67 or 99?

Also can I flagpole after it has been more than 90 days since the issue of my Degree?

Cheers!

I love this forum, it keeps nerves in check.

Hi,

Your application will be processesed according to current processing times.
If 90 days have passed since date of your last grade was declared, or since 90 days after college gave you letter of completion then you can not apply for wp through flagpoling.

Thanks

Hi All,

An update from my end.

I did flagpoling on Tuesday and received my PGWP. I reached the border around 7:00 am in the morning around and the entire process got completed by 8:15 am.

- Crossed the border and completed flagpoling at US without any issues
- Reached canadian side and waited for about 30 mins before I met the officer
- Asked for study permit and letter from university. Provided my job offer and degree certificate as additional proof.
- Received PGWP for 20 months

I withdrew my online application through CSE and received response the next day a note has been added to file and the respective officer looking at my application will get back to me.

My only advise is for people who completed 2 years Masters' program and are eligible to get 3 PGWP from CIC, please wait (if you can afford to) for your application to be processed by CIC. CBSA does not apply the same time period as that of CIC. In my case, I couldnt wait because of my employer.

Also, it does not matter if it is a renowned university, renowned program or friendly officer, they apply the rules exactly as provided in the CIC website. However, I know for a fact that all my seniors have received a 3 PGWP after completion of the same program as mine by applying through CIC.

My advise is if you have a program that is 3 years or longer, doesnt make a difference if you flagpole.
If your program is eligible for 3 years PGWP (you can gather this info from your university or your seniors), then wait for CIC to process if you can. If not, then go for flagpoling.

Also, as previously mentioned, answer only the questions asked and be concise and clear.

All the best for those who plan to flagpole.

So here is my flagpole experience

Today around 2:40 am i went to rainbow border.
I crossed the bridge and got the flagpole paper from usa side
USA officer were so nice and gave me paper and i came to canada, officer asked me why you are here
i told him i wana apply for work permit, and he gave me another paper and gave me direction to go inside the building and another officer will take care of you.

I was going towards building and one officer was outside
he asked me what im doing here, i said im here to apply WP the he took my passport and all the documents and told me have a seat and gave my papers to the other officer.
Then officer called me i went there and he asked me why im here, I told him im here to apply WP.
he asked my study permit and then graduation letter then offer letter.
after 5 mins he said you will get two year WP.
then i said why 2 year it should be three year
he said your graduation letter showing me your program was 2 year so
2 year study program will get 2 year WP
i said my all friends got 3 year after 2 years study and i called cic they told me same thing that you will get 3 years permit.
then he said i have no idea how they got 3 years permit but its rule not mine but cic website have same rule so i cant give you 3 year WP, if you want i can cancel your application right now.
he printed some cic documents and hi-lighted area where they mentioned that duration of study = duration of work permit so 2 year study = 2 year work permit and if 5 year study then max 3 year work permit.

so after 5 6 mins argument, then i said plz cancel my application, i will apply online then he said ok have a seat i will cancel your application.

while i was sitting and thinking seriously cic made this rule, i havent seen it.
to confirm i opened cic website and started reading work permit rule then i found they wrote if you have done 2 years and more study you will get 3 year work permit.
then again i went to the officer and showed him its on cic website that 2 years study will get 3 years WP

then he said ok I give you 3 years WP.

moreover he told me to pay 155 and i paid and got 3 years PW :D

and whole process took almost 50 mins including 20 mins bridge walk

Now i have some question
i need to withdraw my online application
and separate i have paid 100 extra online through online thing

so my question is do i have to withdraw 2 application
one for 155$ and other $100
or one withdraw application will work ?
thanks

HELP!!!!

I got rejection from flagpole... due to passed 90 day after graduation. Will that affect my previous submitted online application?

I went there last weekend with my school letter. It has one date on the letter which show the date of letter (May xx). Another date named graduation date : April 17.(> 90days)
April 17th is my final exam week so I didn't officially graduated until May xx (< 90days) which exactly the same date I got this letter because usually it takes time to process the exams.

So when I went to border that officer said according to your school letter 'graduation date', it passed 90 days. So what I can do is give you an rejection note (record) because that is what I supposed to do. I argued for 5,6 mins but in vain and maybe made that guy mad because he thought I was wasting his time.

My question is : I applied online at May12 for my WP but due to my coming expired SIN and SP I have to goto the border because I can't wait. Will this rejection record affect my online application ? I'm worrying about that. One more thing is that guy said I didn't get any of your online WP application information from the system at all and he knows nothing about it.

Hi All,
I found this forum very useful, therefore sharing my info.
I applied for my work permit on 21st Feb, got $100 open work permit letter on 23rd May, I attached PGWP receipt of $155 mistakenly as I didn't know if there is any new fee that I need to pay seperately. I got rejection letter on 14th May. I applied for PGWP+ restoration on 15th May by paying $455 fee.
Its so frustrating as I can't work anywhere. Please pray for me as I am very tense. :(

Thanks
Sara

Hello Everyone,

How long is it taking these days to receive the PGWP? It seems they just keep on increasing their processing times w/o any change in the date of application they are processing. Right now, it says 96 days and processing March 21st which doesn't even match their own timeline. I applied on May 15th and haven't received any updates whatsoever. At the verge of losing my job as my study permit expires July 30th. CIC call centre reps are unbelievably rude. Is there anything else that can be other can wait in vain? Anybody here who received their PGWP??

Thanks!
Hi,
I also applied on 15th of May and waiting.

hi,

I did flagpoling last night from Rainbow bridge, i got my 3 year PGWP, Now i am relaxed, I advised to every one that if your job is at risk because of it so dont wait for CIC and don't hesitate, its an easy process without risk , so go for it. Even i reached there around 12 pm as i have observe mostly people visit early morning so i was lil bit confused. But border office ask me for showing my diploma and gradation letter, after that he ask me to show medical insurance so i have my university insurance which he didn't accept then i try to convince that its valid till august and once it finish so i will go for new one then he says ok go and wait , He take around 2 hours for all that procedure.

Special thanks to Jubear who always support me and motivate me.

Congratulations Masood!
Good for you on convincing the officer about your health insurance. I'm glad things worked out for you. I hope you remembered to update your SIN at Service Canada. I wish you the best at work as you plan for the future.

Cheers!

Creativenerd,

I can only imagine how you must be feeling. Its not easy to stay positive in this crazy waiting game but one can always try by getting yourself busy with other fun things during this summer.

I can understand why your application was rejected. Which wasn't entirely your problem. On February 21, 2015 (the day you applied), CIC announced a new fee of $100 to be paid by all holders of an open work permit (OWP); for example, PGWP, SOWP, BOWP etc. At that time most applicants weren't aware of it and they subsequently did pay for it or even when they were asked to pay the fee, it was confusing for them. Somehow, their applications were rejected. They would then apply to restore their status and appeal to get a PGWP. Most I know were given PGWP.

All I can say is that I believe things will work out for as well. Have a little faith! Good luck.

Cheers!
