Jubear and friends, Without sounding pessimistic and defeatist,is the assumption that CIC deliberately makes it impossible for students who make one mistake or the other, to RESTORE THEIR STATUS, not justifiable? How many restoration success stories have we come across in this forum? Is it not more humane for the CIC to give individuals who make mistakes, the chance to correct such mistakes before they bring their hammer down on students who have spent thousands of dollars to attend school in Canada? Is asking such people to "restore" with so much money, when the outcome has almost zero %of being successful a wicked act?
Kennykay, Members and Followers,
Its a justified question. Future applicants, followers and members of the forum should always remind themselves that its a case of Business and Economics as usual.
A country's immigration programs for people within or outside is a pure profit monopoly business. In situations where the economy and the Canadian dollar is going south (1 CAD = 0.715487 USD), the immigration program business plays an important role all year round. Billions of revenue are earned by the government. Why? Because immigration will always be up for sale.
Do they care about us? Nope! Do they care to make more profits? Yes, absolutely and because someone else is in line waiting to come to Canada or stay in Canada.
According to CanadaVisa.com, there are over 60 different Canadian immigration programs. A simple Google search will tell you (if the figure is correct!!) that there are 98 universities in Canada. In 2015, The Globe and Mail reported that, about 133,000 graduate and undergraduate international students were enrolled at Canadian universities in 2014 alone and 120,000
SPs were issued to foreign students at colleges and universities.
A 2012 Economic Impact Report:
A Case of the Overall Contribution to the Canadian GDP
1- Canada derives nearly
$8B every year from international student expenditures
including tuition and
living expenses.
2- The presence of international students created over
81,000 jobs and generated more than $445M in government revenue (2010).
These staggering numbers beg the question; what's the catch?
In comparison to other countries;
1- Its easier to get into Canada.
2- The quality of the Canadian education system.
3- Canada's reputation as a tolerant and non-discriminatory society.
4- Canada's reputation as a safe country.
So lets revisit a question I posed earlier; Do they care about us?
Nope, unless we have the money to take care of ourselves while we are in Canada! This is understandable because no one wants a population that strains the economy, services and the health system.
What's the way forward guys? At the beginning of 2016, I posted on here and suggested that as foreigners we need to work smarter NOT harder. The best way to stay in this game is to be well informed and educate yourselves with anything to do with immigration in Canada or any other country you wish to go to. You will benefit if you care about you, your future applications and goals. It was never meant to be easy and that is life. However, we have to stay positive, think on our toes, not take anything for granted. I've travelled to many countries but I can tell you one thing for sure: Without a shadow of doubt, Canada is a wonderful country.
On another note; in 2014, CBC reported that the federal government plans to attract more than
450,000 international students by
2022. How much time do you have between now and 2022? Only 6 years. I just have this bad feeling that one has only six years to do a masters, PR, etc before that door or target closes or the opportunities to come/stay lessen after that. We all don't know what the future holds. However, the
onus is on us to prove that we want to stay and live here permanently in a good personal economic/financial standing.
