I can confirm that when I first landed it was a week before we saw the northern lights - we looked out our window, saw them, and drove to a dark lake.

You're a bit of a grumpy guss, aren't you?

No, It's just a reality ;D. I was dreaming about seeing northern lights and whales before landing (Toronto). Took me 4 years until I was ready to make trip to NS to see whales. Northern lights... guess it's just too far and too cold... :)/

Ah I see! Well, everyone else get out to Alberta and BC asap!!

I will get me a US visitor visa and do a road trip from Vancouver to Prudhoe Bay Alaska

Our friends bought our old Chevy suburban and drove it from Banff to Alaska, then down through Vancouver, USA and Mexico!

"There's even more good news: anyone who becomes a Canadian citizen in the 12 months leading up to 2018 gets a free year-long pass to their new homeland's parks. O, Canada: we like the sound of this."

Damn Canada, want to marry you.

I honestly don't know why everyone so in love with Timmies. It's now a US company (owned by BK) that try to exploit our patriotic sentiment for profit. The coffee quality and bagels are going down the hole.

If you want a good double double, go to McDonalds. I'm serious.

I do all that and more. I would personally spend my first 3 months getting to know the country, visiting povinces. Once you start working there s no time for pleasure

Well they were Canadian until recently.

Anyway we know it's bad, it's cheap coffee. It's just the sentimentality of it. Every morning before we drove up the ski hill we got a double double. Oh and in the summer we ALWAYS saw a bear if we got a blueberry muffin :D we even tried a blueberry muffin from Safeway and no bear.

If you want bad crap, try McDonald's poutine. It gives you that gravy fix, but it ain't good ;)

I was never the biggest fan of poutine but now that I live outside of Canada I've been craving it like crazy :P

No one prepares better poutine than Russian President. This is why I never eat it - I afraid KGB (now FSB) will go after me... :P

Technically both Tim Hortons and BK are owned by Restaurant Brands Intl which is based in Oakville, Ont. to take advantage of tax benefits from low corporate tax in Canada. It's been heavily criticized in US for trying to avoid tax with loopholes like that

And double double now taste like slightly flavored watery sugary mess. terrible indeed. Bagels and wraps are still pretty good

Try Smoke's Poutinerie especially if you're in Toronto & Area
