Less Complex Claim

Hi everyone, in December 2023 I applied for refugee. Then in August 2024, I received the less complex claim letter stating that my case was gonna be considered and may be decided under the file review process and they gave us like 13 days to surrender all the documents which me and my firm did accordingly. It's been 8 months and no answer has been received. So I'm a bit anxious and kind of worried.

I know that the process may take up to 24 months but is there any way to research what's happening to my case? will it take more time? is this the normal time? I know that my firm has access to my case updates but I was wondering where else could I look for an update besides my attorney's profile where he has all of his client's updates.

If anyone can give me its input I would appreciate it. I also keep searching for this topic on the internet but there is not a lot of material about it, everything is too ambiguous and I can't see anyone posting personal experiences about the less complex claims, or maybe I'm looking at the wrong places... Thanks a lot.:)

Considering your case as a less complex case does not mean your case may be decided under the file review process. My case was considered less complex after 7 months of submitting the claim. I submitted all the documents in 10 days, but later, I received my hearing date after 16 months. No one can predict how the process will be. Just hope for the best and be patient. Good luck!

Thank God, I just want this to end soon. My mental health has been deteriorating since the last year although I’ve been through some help, is still very challenging to deal with everything.

Given the backlog of cases and when you applied sadly there may still be a while until you hear about a hearing. Your only option is to be patient and try to establish a life for yourself in Canada by working, studying, etc.

One question here, @canuck78 do you think learning french like A1 or A2, does help with H&C application or establishing the fact that the person is trying to establish a life in Canada.

You are posting under a question about asylum claims and you appear to be an asylum claimant so not quite sure how this question is relevant but has no impact on asylum claims. May have a minor impact on an H&C just like other proof that you are integrating into life in Canada.
