I applied for FSW last May 08, I am a Registered Nurse here in CA, USA and being represented by a lawyer based in Ontario. I was issued a "TEMPORARY FILE NUMBER"/ Immigration File Number which starts in "B" followed by numbers issued before the 38 ministerial occupation list was published. Luckily my occupation was on the list-Registered Nurse.

My questions are the following:

1. Do I need to submit a new set of application forms to Sydney NS for assessment/evaluation?
("My attorney told me that I do not need to send new set of applications, because my application was submitted before the new rules for the 38 occupation list were published"). Per new rule it is said that applications should be forwarded to Sydney NS. My attorney said that since my application was submitted way before the new rules were published, there is no need for me to resubmit a new application to NS which means that my application will be continued to be processed in Manila.

2. The letter I received from CIC-Manila includes a temporary file number, does this mean that I will be receiving another letter with a permanent file number?

3. My immigration processing started last July 8, 2008 per CIC-Manila, when do I expect updates from them?

The same here,
If your occupation if on the list, they'll let your know soon that your file will be processed.
P.S: The new rules apply on those who apply after 27 February, 2008.

Good Luck

Hi,

I am not sure. I also received a letter from CIC-London with a file id starting with B..... My occupation is on the list as well. They said they are fwd my application to Nova Scotia and if processed will issue me with a sydney file number in 4 months. So I have to wait till that time? Tell me what you first letter exactly says?

Cheers

Khanboy, Based on the E-CAS, the status of my application says "IN PROCESS" up to the present, and also says that they started the processing of my application last July 8, 08. On July 23, 08, my representative received a letter from CIC-MANILA, and it goes like this:

Dear Applicant,

This is to advise that your application for permanent residence has been received at our office and that a provisional file has been created for you. Your file number appears above. Please quote this number in all correspondence with our office.

We will contact you to let you know how your application may be affected when Minister's instructions are issued.

Immigration Section
Canadian Embassy, Manila

Up to this date, my representative has not received any updates from CIC-Manila.

Hopefully the next letter will be a good one such as interview waiver and medicals.

Avia and Khanboy,
I received the second letter from CIC-Manila last January 12, 2009 thru my representative asking me to submit a full application, IELTS result, proof of funds, police clearance, and supporting documents for myself and my common-law partner.
We were able to accomplish these before the end of March. I believe my lawyer submitted the completed application first week of April 09 and up to this date, we are still waiting for medical request and others.
Current status on E-CAS, still IN PROCESS.
What about you guys?

Dear Don,

Thank you for the reply. Just in anut shell I applied in Aug 08 and got the letter in Jan 09 for submission of full docs to London Office. In between file was transferred for assessment to Nova Scotia. I submitted everything requested in April 09. I am waiting for the reply about the assessment or a formal acknowledgement letter from London Office.

Might be they require further docs or acknowledgement letter. London office will issue a separate file number and old one will become invalid. Same happened with my friend.

With old file number e-cas is showing "in process". I wrote london office and they told me to wait for some time and we dont confirm everything until or unless its imp.

But I know they will send acknowledgement letter.

Will keep you posted.

Cheers
