I recently legally changed both my first and last name in my home country. I applied for a new passport from home so that I would be able to change my name on my PR card . I was getting ready to apply for a new PR card But then I saw I need to send my COPR along with all the other documents. I received PR back in August 2021, but i never received the COPR in my email. I have tried to call and they keep telling me I need to apply for Verification of status, which seems wild to me as I was never sent the document and also processing right now is taking 25 weeks on top of 4 months to get the new PR card. IRCC has been super unhelpful!

I was hoping to travel home but do you think I will have a lot of trouble getting back into Canada with a passport that has my new name and a PR card that had my old name?

Thank you so much for reading~

Hey, nope, not quite yet. Slow process. It seems I need to also change my name in BC. I am currently waiting for that to come through then I can apply for a new PR card with new name.
