Hi all,

Here is my situation at the moment:
Me: from Beijing, China. came to Canada in April 3rd 2016 on a visitor visa.
My husband: born and raised in Vancouver, Canadian citizen.
- May 17th, handed in my PR application/work permit application, spousal sponsorship
- June, received an email from CIC saying that they've received my application and process will shortly begin.
- Sept 7th, received my open work permit, valid until Jan 2018
- I have a valid canadian multiple-entry vistor visa (valid until Jan 2018)

I have personal matters that needs immediate attention and I have to return to Beijing for a while (3 months at least), my husband will go back with me in the meantime. Just wondering if I can return to Canada with my work permit+multi entry visa? Will this leave affect my PR processing?

Thank you all.

A requirement of an inland application is that sponsor and applicant live together in Canada during processing. So there are 2 possible problems in your situation.
1. If CIC sees you've left Canada for an extended time, they may deem you are no longer living in Canada so could cancel your application.
2. If for any reason CBSA denies your re-entry to Canada, then your inland app will be cancelled.

There's certainly a good chance CIC will not even care you left Canada for many months and you will be allowed back in no problem, with no affect to your app. However you should be aware of the risks you're taking.

When I return, what do I say to CBSA? that I've gone for personal reason and now I am back? And do I re-enter with my work permit?

Is there a definition of "extended time" here? there maybe a chance I will come back in 2 months or even less if everything goes well back in China.

And if I'm lucky and CIC doesn't care, will CBSA alert CIC that I was out of canada for a while after my return?

The system is integrated. CBSA use GCMS too.

I have the same question as I'm going to submit my application the end of this month ( Inland ).
My visitor Multiple-entry Visa only allows me to stay within 6 months. I entered to Vancouver this 19th.July, which means I have to leave before 19th.Jan,2017. Wondering what time length is good for me to leave Canada so that I can re-set another 6 months before PR or work permit approved?

your situation is totally different from mine, but I think I know the answer to your question. You do not need to leave Canada, or you have to do is send in a Visa extension at least a month before that 6 months expires. as soon as your visa extension application is received by CIC, you will have implied status (allows you to legally stay in Canada) until you get the new extended visa paper.
