After meeting the Residency requirement and applying for citizenship, should one stay in Canada during the entire application process? If no, at what stages are in country presence required in the application process?

Interview and Oath. People who are on extended period outside canada do need to go through interview process.

Even if its virtual the first question the oath officer asks you is - "Are you in Canada?"
