Hello,
Can we move out of the country for a longer period during the processing of the citizenship application? I read on the CIC website, one can leave Canada, however, will that impact our processing the application, any thoughts or personal experiences??

Sure, you can. But you have to be prepared to return to Canada with very little notice to write the test and then later to take the oath.

Yeah, that's fine,I can travel back with short notice, but the main question is -Will it delay in processing the application is my concern if the case officer knows that im not living in Canada during the processing of the application.

this depends on the officer who interviews you, if he/she doesn't care (in most cases), then it's fine.

Occasionally, people got RQ(residency questionnaire) by the officer, then it becomes another a few months for you to provide materials to support your residency.

Depends on the officer.

If you receive RQ, you will need to provide evidence to prove you meet the residency requirement. This will involve submitting a bunch of paperwork that proves you were in Canada when you said you were. Evidence may include: employment records, credit card / banking records showing activity, health care records, educational records for your children, proof of flights in and out of Canada, tax records, etc. and anything else you can think of.

RQ is basically a pain to go through and delays the overall process.

If the current travel restrictions are kept in place (and I have little doubt they will be in place for a while yet except for maybe US) then you would need to return at least 2 weeks before test and oath in order to quarantine for those 2 weeks. Pure speculation of course, but I could easily see a situation where tests/oaths have resumed and quarantine restrictions are still in place.

Right now they aren't even processing applications so this is not a problem right now.
