I don't know how it's going, but I'm certain that it will only be a lawsuit against certain aspects of bill C-24 -- not the whole bill. The Canadian government has the right to change the terms of qualifying for citizenship. What are you hoping this lawsuit will do?
well, Frankly I don't have high expectation but I am trying to be optimistic.
I hope after the lawsuit the government starts making action on the citizenship act including actions on residency and language requirements, processing times and the time credit before getting the PR.

I would be VERY surprised if the current government decided that it was a priority to change these. They are just in office, they want to do some ambitious things, and I don't see how headlines like "Trudeau Plans To Cheapen Canadian Citizenship" will help them maintain support.
Processing times have nothing to do with the lawsuit, they have nothing to do with the law, and they are already far faster than in the past.
The only thing that the lawsuit might change is the requirement to swear intent to continue residing in Canada, which all the evidence indicates is a legal formality anyway.

Language is the number one requirement inf the goal is to integrate one to his new society and community.

yes there is no news about the lawsuits but it is supposed to be in January

All through the election campaign the liberals maintained that they promises to repeal (unfair elements) of bill c 24. Remember "A Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian". Much of the sway towards Trudeau was based on this promise ( Harper's dictatorship helped of course). Now we must not let the liberals forget their promise

Before leaving, Steven Harper renewed employment contracts lot of his henchmen called "Bureaucrats" in various key positions.
These bureaucrats will payback by continuing to implement Harper's visions and tarnish Trudeau's polices to make him look bad & failure.
One way or other they would drag their feet in everything to improve that would expose Harper's past failures.
Unless all Federal agencies are sanitized of past political appointees, there cannot be any real improvement. Possibly, every change for improvement is facing tough resistance from Harper's moles. All they want to see that Trudeau fail and people think Harper was better.
Harper tried to use the race card like what Trump doing in USA. Thanks to all Canadians who raised above that and voted for real change.

I do not believe that any lawsuite will change the law, because they do not do that. They only say if it is constitutional or not. The laws change by the parliament . So concentrate on working with your PM and the minister of Immigration. The liberals gave promises for which more than 3 millions moved and voted for the them more than the previous elections in 2011. I think they commit a mistake if they slow down their promises and leave hundreds of thousands of people fall under the effect of the new citizenship law introduced by the conservatives. Those people will feel that they did not get benefits from the new government and they may lose their voting and vote for NDP for example. I think to get the fruits of their victory and the mistakes of Harper liberals should act fast and repeal this law.
