Landing stopped at Peace Bridge

I drove to peace bridge today morning, took a u-turn for landing.Officer told me that the rule has changed and asked me to make arrangements with CIC. Does any body experienced the same?

At the gate an officer checked our passports and asked to go inside building, Officer in building said rule has changed, you need land at CIC local office and gave me toll free no of CIC, I asked when the rule changed.he said they got a mail yesterday.He don't even checked passport or CoPR

It might be because you dif not leave Canada. Go to the USA and come back. Then they will definitely help you. All border entrees can be used to land.

Several people in this forum landed at same place by taking U turn, Do you mean I can try my luck in rainbow bridge there I can get administrative refusal from US

Could be a new rule(don't see the logic behind it though) since the officer said they received instructions via mail only yesterday. If this is the case, having to book appointments at CIC office to do landing would add on to the waiting time to become PR. I've seen lots of post whereby members mentioned that they only could have gotten an appointment at CIC office after a month or more. Guess we will all find out in due time about this "new rule," if it is imposed.

Give a try at Rainbow bridge. U have a permenant residency visa so CBSA can not refuse ur entry. But for that to happen u needto come incountry from outside. What the officer told u is basically , if u do not want to leave instead of taking the u turn go to an office insode the city.
I checked the whole CBSA site, no other new instruction .

Doubt it. Landings would be minuscule compared the actual travellers.

Guys shall i try my luck in rainbow bridge niagra falls ?
Only concern i have is, today at peace bridge they just scanned my passport and Immigrant visa , but no stamp put on passport ,
Since the immigrant visa is single entry , any issues, is this considered as immigrant entry?

What happened exactly with you? Did they tell u that u r a permenant resident now? Did they take ur address and tell u that u will have ur pr in mail in 4-6 weeks? Landing is not just letting you in!!! How come u left before checking with them!?

You can go to peace bridge now.. u have a visa to confirm ur status. As a pr u can go in and out as much as u want. If they did not consider it landing for u then ur visa will also still be good enough for you to Land.

It's quite obvious that they refused to "land" the OP...
They are entitled (under some circumstances) to refuse and send the applicant to a CIC office instead.

If you go out of the country, how can they deny you landing? Because that is what the visa is for. In theory, they want you to go out of Canada. Did you go out to USA and get administrative refusal? Or did u just took a U-turn and entered the CBSA building?
