I had completed my medicals in nov. 2012 and still have not recd. my landing papers, or have been asked to send the passport to London, UK, for visa stamping. meanwhile , a series of addl. information, documents, etc. were sought from me, after doing the medical and still they have not conveyed the outcome of my case. i recall there is a rule regarding landing to be done within 1 year of medical. it seems i may not get the papers before that and then what happens to my case ? am i supposed to have failed to land within the stipulated time and will they cancel everything ? what is the way out and can i do something or just wait for the authorities to convey their decisions, etc. ?

would be thankful for a detailed feedback

Hi Chella99,

Landing within 1 year of medicals is a baseline the Canadian High Comission takes to determine the expiry date on the visa they are supposed to give you. The date within which you have to land is the date that will be printed on the visa (once you get it), not the date on which you completed your medicals.

There are 2 things that could happen now if your medicals are expiring (1 year after you had them done):

1. If everything in your case is complete and the decision is pending only because your medicals are expiring, then the visa officer has the power to extended your medicals, in which case you have nothing to do expect wait.

2. If your background checks are still pending, then the likely hood is that the visa officer will ask you to go and get your medicals done again (same process you followed earlier). These medicals will be again valid for another year.

Regardless of which of the above applies to you, your case still remains in process and you have nothing at all to worry about. This has happened to many people before you and is normal.

Enjoy life and decide where you want to land :)

Hi Rizmayo,

Well summarized!

Hi Chella99,

As Rizmayo said above, just chill and hold on till you receive an intimation from your VO - nothing needs to be done from your side, at the moment.

Good Luck.

Regards.
NVLN.
