Hi All,

My sister is living in Alberta sponsoring parents under family class - waiting for landing paper now.

Question - I lived in Ontario, can my parents land in Ontario and lived with me without going to Alberta?

Does my parent has to land in Alberta and stay with my sister?

Please advise.

Thanks,
CopperDolphin

If she sponsored under federal family class (not via a provincial program), they should be able to settle in Ontario.

Can anybody confirm this. I am in a similar situation where my parents would like to land in a different province to stay with my brother.

Has anybody's parents landed in a different province to stay with their siblings rather than one who was sponsored.

Did they face any issues at immigration?

Through family sponsorship it doesn't matter what province you land in. As long as it isn't Quebec, since they have an additional requirement.

Note that some provinces (like Alberta) offer healthcare instantly to new PRs, while other provinces (like Ontario) make you wait for 3 months.

If you land in AB for the healthcare, you have to stay at least six months or they can backcharge you for services.

They can land and settle in any province except Quebec.

Hi mspakp,

Parents can land in different province.

My parent landed in Ontario and had no issues with the immigration.

Immigration will sure ask the reason for landing in different province. Other than that, everything is just fine.

P.S. the PR card will be mailed to the sponsored.

Hope this help

This is the same for Manitoba.
