Good afternoon,

I had a question I was hoping someone could help with.

I just received my COPR, so I now have to go through the routine of leaving the country and re-entering. I currently live in Toronto and could just go to Buffalo to leave and re-etner, however I heard that now they let you just go to airport and go through immigration there.

Has anyone done this? Does anyone know how it works?

Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated,

Regards,

Pete

Don't think so.

You'll need to go to Niagara Falls/Fort Erie, or book an appointment with a local CIC office.

Not sure about landing at an airport if you're not actually flying.

Check recent landing experiences here:

and/or required documents and general information about the procedure here:

Hi, similar situation, also living in Toronto.
I assume I will receive my COPR in the next couple of weeks/months (completed medical a couple of days ago).

I wouldn't mind saving myself the trip to Buffalo and just do the landing combined with an out of the country trip I am doing anyway. Going to the US in Jan and March and to Europe in February. If I receive the COPR request before one of those trips, I assume I can use one of those trips for landing here?

If you live close to the border, Complete the landing as soon as possible. Dont wait for your next trip to US.

All it takes is to go to the border and walk back to Canadian side. It is called flagpole. Just search the forum for flagpole, you can see a detailed explanation on how to do it.

I received my stamped passport yesterday and have to plan to cross border.

I don't drive, so looking for someone who is planning to do and can share ride.

Also what is the easiest way to goto to US border from Toronto.

Easy to land at the rainbow bridge - did it on Tuesday.

Your options are: -

1) Leave the country and come back in.
2) Make apt at CIC office. Current wait time for St. Claire is approx 4 months.

Good luck.

kkk2012,
Just take a private CAB and go there if you don't drive.. look into Kijiji ads for Private ride

4 months? :o I wonder if that lead time is common across CIC locations.

So it boils down to either spending $$ for a flight, flagpoling at a land border (which might require a few hours driving time) or waiting for in-country "landing".

Those are the options. Any should be fine depending on how quickly you want to do it. After finding out the wait time I just drove to Niagara (after returning from the UK!!)
