Good Short Stay Options - Toronto/GTA

Here r my choices, in this order:

1- Motel6, Mississauga
2- Studio6, Mississauga
3- SafeHomeStay, Toronto
4- Best Western Hotel, Brampton
5- Ports Hotel, Mississauga
6- Holiday Inn Express, Airport or Brampton or Mississauga
7- Comfort Inn Hotel, Mississauga
8- Derry Guest House, Toronto Downtown

NOTE:
a) All r similarly priced (+/-), except the BLUE colored hotels. -but, they r 'budget hotels', so not pricey
b) I'd suggest everyone to go for Motel6. It's way better organized, value for money than the others.
c) In the Hotels, Holiday Inn Exp is better than Best Western; but B/W has bigger room size.
d) Do not go to Derry Guest House, unless u must be in Downtown Toronto. -not well maintained
e) SafeHomeStay is well managed by the Thomas & Caroll. Its the Cheapest among all. -not bad too

Only the first time is called "landing". After that is merely "returning" and you have to report to the border agents if you are carrying over $10,000 CAD.

Only the first landing, you need to show proof of funds.

Hi Qorax,

I am moving from vancouver to toronto on 1-june
i got a job in downtown , but wife is still looking for one.
Since my wife doesn't know driving we are looking for a place which has good fast connectivity through public transport.
Please advice which areas in Toronto region we can look for home ?

She could get a job in Downtown or brampton or scarbrough

What is your advice on areas with best public transport connectivity

4. Avoid Scar(e)borough, if u can.

what does it mean?

This basically means avoid living or going to the area to the east of Toronto called Scarborough. Adding the "e" is a play on the word scare. It is known by Torontonians not to be a very nice area and is thought of as quite dangerous.

In my experience large parts of it are this way but as with any other area it also has nice parts (although few and far between!) So it all depends what part of Scarborough really!

Scar[e]borough?
-better be avoided unless u have no other choice...

1. The largest neighborhood of Toronto,
2. Older developments - aged housing,
3. Congested streets - parking headaches,
4. The only neighborhood which has 3 divisions (Stns) of Toronto Police [take the hint!],
5. In 2009, the largest predawn operation [in Canadian History] fetched 84 criminals here, many hardened ones!
6. Quite a few gangs operate here (but ordinary folks aren't affected much),
7. The Bikers' Gang r a menace,
8. Closer to U of T,
9. Some pockets r good, especially the North - nearer to 401(Expressway),
10. Few locations have multi-million$$$ homes [Bayview],
11. Locations bordering Pickering r far from Toronto-Downtown, but nice/newer developments there,
12. Some areas have cheaper housing, but also the menace that comes with it,
13. Locations closer to DVP r Ok - advisable to reside for newcomers,
14. Kennedy Street is a safe bet for residential purposes,
15. If it has to be Scarborough - nothing much wrong with it,
16. If Scarborough is not a must - Avoid.
17. If u have friends/relatives there - go ahead.
18. North York (similar distance from Toronto-Downtown) is a better place,
19. So would be the suburbs of Mississauga, Brampton & Markham (closest to Downtown).
20. Oh, every day there is@least one [1] fatal shooting here [if that's a/ny point to be considered!!!].

Think about it !

Thanks Boss for the info. When its from you that is certainly to be considered... I hope this will give us a refreshing alternative thoughts and choices to plan before to disappoint own self.

Qorax Ji,

How are you.
My family has joined me for good in canada ,this week.

My question:
Can i bring further funds into Canada by transferring money from Indai. If yes, then, is this principal amount taxable or only the income generated in Canada out of the principal amount is taxable.
Pls clarify.

Thanks
