Not required. The immigration officer will take inputs directly from your COPR.
However, you must provide them a Canadian address.

Hey friends,

I have a question about the PR card application IMM5444E. Do we have to fill in the (C) personal history part (education and work) if we have never studied or worked in Canada? Are we suppose to fill it in with our history in the country of origin?

Please read through previous replies. You need not fill this form for first time landing.

Thanks a lot for the Information.

I will be travelling from Mumbai. What is the best and cheapest way to carry 12000 CAD as POF ? I inquired about traveler cheque, but they are charging almost 1.4 Rs extra per CAD. I am having equivalent amount in my savings account of Indian bank.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Why don't you just get a fund certificate from your bank. It has been discussed so many times here.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

1) we can take 5K cash, for family of two.
2) and rest in Indian Bank with a fund certificate, saying that we have this much in savings which is equivalent of some amount of CAD
3) after we open the bank account, we transfer the money from Indian Account to Canadian account.

what service do you normally use for these type of transfers?

or is it better to carry all the amount 16K in cash ?

Thanks
Shiv

Dear All,

I am Abhishek from Dubai

If someone could help me, I have a few questions if you could answer please.

1. My COPR has the post of Entry as ' Calgary, AB'. Does that mean i have to enter Canada through Calgary or I can land in Toronto too?

2. My single entry immigrant visa is valid till 18/8/2016. I am planning to land on 26th May 2016 but leave in the first week of June. Can I leave the country in June and come back later in November after wrapping up everything in Dubai. if yes, then what do I need to do as soon as I land in Canada and what documents would i need to apply for coming back to canada

3. How much time does PR card takes to come. As soon as I land, as my visa is single entry do I get a new visa printed on my passport or do they provide a document which confirms that I am a resident.

4. What is the procedure when I am in Dubai so that I can come back to canada.

Await your reply with Interest!!

Regards
Abhishek

1) we can take 5K cash, for family of two. Sure. That's okay.
2) and rest in Indian Bank with a fund certificate, saying that we have this much in savings which is equivalent of some amount of CAD. Perfectly fine.
3) after we open the bank account, we transfer the money from Indian Account to Canadian account. Yes.

Withdraw Canadian money from ATM using Indian debit card. Deposit money into Canadian account through the same ATM using Canadian debit card. Also you need not withdraw all 16K CAD. Just withdraw what you need on ongoing basis. Just check if your Indian bank provides an International debit card. And also what's the daily withdrawal limit. My bank allowed upto 1.5lacs withdrawal everyday.

or is it better to carry all the amount 16K in cash ?

Thanks
Shiv

I already finished my landing and came back to my home country. If i carry more than CAD 10000 on my second time entry to Canada and if i declare it what type of documents is needed? Are those money gonna be tax free?

You can land in Toronto too!

You can not do much in 1 week except opening a bank account.

Do you have a relative / close friend whose address you can provide so that your PR Cards can reach his place and later it can be handed over to you.
The only thing you will require to return to Canada is your PR Card.

3. How much time does PR card takes to come. As soon as I land, as my visa is single entry do I get a new visa printed on my passport or do they provide a document which confirms that I am a resident.

The COPR document which you would have received along with your visa will be stamped and signed by the officials and it will be used for all purposes till you receive your PR card.

Time frame for PR Card - average 2-3 months. This morning I called up the call center to check the status of my cards and poof... they said that they are unable to scan my photographs and therefore they have sent me some letter.... there goes couple of weeks :|

4. What is the procedure when I am in Dubai so that I can come back to canada.

No further procedure required. Have your PR Card and Tickets ready with you to return!!!

Abhishek,

Whatever Asish said is correct. Except, it is not normally advisable to send PR cards by post/ courier. If you don't have someone who can send you your PR card/s, you will have to get a PRTD or a permanent resident travel document, from the Canadian consulate in your country of residence. You cannot re-enter Canada without your PR card.

Hope this helps. :)

Hi All,

What if i have money in Canada bank itself - do i need to get bank letter from the bank or bank statement is enough?
