Thanks for the detailed response and solution Khurram :)

Well, I will check with the agent once I get the Visa / CoPR and compare the option. If the different ain't much, i will go with your suggestions. As per momondo.com there is minimum USD 200 / 250 difference per head :o
You are welcome check.

Hi Seniors
It has been almost 6 weeks since I landed in Toronto and my ECAS was updated with the address I provided during my landing process, can I change my address on ECAS now? Will they send my PR card to this new address?

Thanks a lot

CIC updates these numbers in January every year. As you are landing in next 2 weeks, you are suppose to carry CAD 18,617.

hi
we are going to do the initial landing in april.
we are under the mpnp and will do the landing in Winnipeg.
we are first flying to Calgary and then flying to Winnipeg, what will happen, will the immigration in Calgary look through our papers or will they do that in Winnipeg?

Your port of Entry will be Calgary. They will check everything. :)

Hi Seniors,

I need help Regarding Goods to follow list {form B4-A}. i will be carrying cash 19,000CAD (funds required for family of 3) with me in cash while i will also have my bank statement of around 50,000 CAD with me. where should i declare this 50,000CAD? do i have to write it on good to follow list {form B4-A}? or somewhere else. as i plan to land in march, Open a bank account and then transfer all my funds from home country.
thanks.

I have read on forum that at airport they will ask for photographs for PR card, if this is correct please tell me how many photoes should I bring with me when landing and also what are the specifications ?

Since you are not carrying the $50,000 cash, u do not need to declare any thing. You will declare your $19,000 on your landing car given to u in the plane.

can we carry some as USD and some CAD in cash, rather than carrying all CAD ? I can carry USD equal to CAD . Will this satisfy proof of funds requirement at airport.

Yes! Actually when I was travelling to Canada I only carried USD, when I got here I deposited the cash which was converted to CAD in my Canadian bank account.

Thanks a lot "lilbro" for your reply.

I have one more question. if i don't declare the them 50,000CAD amount on my goods to follow list, then will I be Taxed when i transferred them to Canada after opening a bank account there.

Also you mentioned that you carried the funds in USD. how was that experience for you ? did you face any hurdles opening a bank account in USD & also did bank charged you any fee when converting from USD to CAD?
my funds currently are in USD and i was planning to convert them to CAD before moving to Canada. but if you didn't faced any issue carrying the USD then please let me know and i will not convert my funds as well.

thanks a lot in advance for your guidance

You are a new immigrant and so won't be taxed all you need to do is to inform the bank you need to wire transfer the rest of your funds from your country and they will guide you. I didn't have any problems at all, the bank charges no fees they only convert your usd with the present rate of the market at the bank on that day of opening your account you also have an option of opening a usd account with a cad account your choice. Opening an account is very easy for immigrants to Canada I recommend you open a scotia bank account very helpful to immigrants. So pls do not convert your usd u might loose a lot. If travelling with your spouse u can both carry the specified amount each for one traveller that way u kill 2 birds with one stone by carrying more cash,, all the best
