You don't need a transit visa if you have just a layover in the US. You only need a visa if you plan to stay in the US for a few days.nasha27 said:Friends need some advice / suggestion.
I am planning to settle in vancouver in April 2016 from Karachi, Pakistan. I am looking for flight option. The problem is I don't have a US visa for transit and we were told in our orientation session for new immigrants - that if we land in toronto then our journey from Toronto to Vancouver would be local travel and thereby we will not be allowed to carry more than 1 bag or have to pay for extra baggage.
Has anyone experience this or would suggest best option. Thanks
If your baggage is checked through and your flights are booked through to Vancouver, it is still considered as part of the international flight, with Toronto being a layover. However, Toronto will serve as your port of entry. Your immigration formalities will be completed in Toronto.
