Are you the principal applicant? Or is your wife the PA?
She is the PA - therefore she went to do the landing first.

I received PR card today. But all family members have third name not same as in passport, it is shotened, it looks weired with half names. If there is limited number of letters then initial letter should be mentioned instead of writing half name. (Example, John can be written J. instead of Joh!

Hello,

I have a couple of questions on Landing process in FSW program.

1. How much time generally is provided to the applicants for Landing once the passport are stamped?

2. Is it possible that only the primary applicant land initially without the dependents? My wife and kid might not accompany me and might be able to come to Canada only later. In such a case, how much time dependents might have for landing in Canada?

Appreciate your guidance.

Thanks,
Mohit

1. Usually, you would have 1 year from the date of medicals, or validity of the passport, whichever is earlier. This means that you would have 10 - 10.5 months after getting the visas stamped in your passport (unless the validity of passport is less than that).

2. Yes, the primary applicant can land before the dependents. The dependents can land at a later date, but MUST land within the time specified in their visas (usually the same deadline as given to the primary applicant), or before their passports expire, whichever is earlier.

3. If more time is needed for you to find a job and settle down, etc, your dependents can do the landing, complete the formalities, and return to home country. Once landing formalities are completed, they can come back to Canada after upto two years (safely) or even three years (pushing your luck).

Personally, that's what I'm doing. My visa expires in August, but I cannot get away from here till June due to work commitments as well as weather considerations in Canada. So the entire family will complete the landing formalities in June, after which my wife and kids will come back to India for a year or two.

Hello Senior,

I have a doubt (silly one ;D).. I will be soon landing to complete the process. I will be travelling with my daughter & my wife.

My question is regarding the Proof of Funds. The total requirement for PoF is CAD 16280. At the same time we should declare if we are bringing more than CAD 10000. So my question is, will I have to declare that I am bringing CAD 16280 (which is more than CAD 10000) ?

I know this question might have been answered many times but unfortunately I can't find them.

Thanks in advance for your help. :)

Your can land anytime within the validity of your visa, you won't get a pr card unless you land. Where did you read that information?

Please read below and help me understanding it as given in CIC website ( link attached)

Starting March 15, 2016, visa-exempt foreign nationals who fly to or transit through Canada will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). Exceptions include U.S. citizens and travellers with a valid visa.

Entry requirements for other methods of travel (land, sea) have not changed.

If you are carrying anything more than $10000, just declare the entire amount that your are carrying. The settlement funds you take with you are tax-exempt anyway, and there are severe penalties if you are found carrying funds in excess of $10000 without having declared it.

Has anybody collected his PR card outside canada through registered courier? If yes pls reply

guys do i need to carry any other proof of funds even if i am carryong 2000 dollars cash and 10000 travellers cheque while landing alone as a principal applicant?

agree...i've experienced the same too, but that's how their system works. Nothing to worry about...

Note: The PR Card has a space limitation of 20 characters (letters) for last names (family names) and 15 characters for given names (first and middle names). If your name is longer, the name on the PR card will automatically be shortened to the first 20 and 15 characters respectively. This is not an error and the PR card cannot be modified to include more characters.

Log in to your ecas status and change the address. Anyway you don't need to change it, once you land you can give them the address to which they should mail the PR card.
